Manually configuring Yealink DECT W52P/H & W56P/H

Yealink DECT W52 and W56 IP phones

Important

Yealink DECT W52P/H and W56P/H are end of life (EOL). You can still use them, but they must be manually configured. Keep in mind:

  • You can not reprovision or reboot the DECT base remotely.
  • You can not upgrade the firmware. However since they are EOL phones there will never be any new firmware anyway.
  • Be sure to use the suggested AUTH ID and password by 3CX as these passwords are very secure.

Step 1: Factory reset the Yealink Dect system

If the device has residual settings of a previous configuration the device has to be reset to factory defaults.

Upgrade DECT base firmware version

In order to check the firmware of your Yealink DECT system:

  1. Point your web browser to your device’s IP address. Note: You can find this by pressing “OK” on the headset and selecting the “Status > Base”
  2. Login to your account (default user/password: admin/admin).
  3. Navigate to “Status →  Status → Firmware Version.” This number is your device’s running firmware.
  4. Your Yealink device needs to be on the last required firmware 25.81.0.30. Download the Firmware image .zip file.
  1. Navigate to “Settings → Upgrade → Select and Upgrade Base Firmware”
  2. Click “Choose File” choose the firmware image file saved previously, and press “Upgrade.”

Upgrade handset firmware

  • W52H Handset (USB)- follow the instructions available on the official Yealink website found here.
  • W56H Handset (OTA)
  • Access the official Yealink website and then click Software
  • Find the required firmware file, download it and save on your PC.
  • Point your web browser to your phone’s IP address.
  • Navigate to “Settings → Upgrade → Select and Upgrade Handset Firmware”
  • Click “Choose File” choose the firmware image file saved previously, and press “Upgrade.”
  • As soon as firmware is uploaded to the W56H handset, automatic upgrade will begin.

Step 3: Configure an IP Phone Manually

Some older phones cannot be provisioned automatically via 3CX. These phones must be configured manually using an auth ID, a password and the FQDN of the 3CX server (if the phone is on the local network) or the IP of the SBC or router phone (if the phone is in the cloud).

IP Phone Configuration: Cloud vs Local Network Setup

  1. Go to the “User” for which you want to add a phone.
  2. Go to the “IP Phone” tab. Click “Configure a phone” to add a phone.
  3. Now you select where this phone will be located on the same local network as 3CX, or whether it is a remote phone. Click “Next”.
  4. Select “Normal Phone” and enable the option to “Configure your phone manually without provisioning”
  5. If the phone is remote, choose the router phone behind through which this phone will connect.
  6. Now a dialog will show the configuration details:
  1. Authentication ID
  2. Password
  3. 3CX FQDN and Port.
  4. If the phone is remote, the SBC or Router phone’s IP address and Port will also be shown.

Step 4: Login to the Yealink WP52 and W56 interface

Now you need to login to the Yealink DECT base station interface. If the base station was previously provisioned via 3CX, then you can go to the phone's web interface from the Management Console. Use the username and password configured in the Management Console. If it was not, you will have to obtain the IP via the phone interface and use that.

Step 5: Enter the 3CX Server credentials

Go to “Account > Register”, and fill in the following with the info you retrieved from 3CX above:
