Installing 3CX Phone - IP Phone for Windows

What is 3CXPhone?

3CXPhone is a Windows application that functions as an IP phone and allows you to make and receive calls using a head set or via the microphone and speakers of your computer.

System Requirements

3CXPhone 4 is very lightweight and has minimal system requirements

  • Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7
  • No additional memory or disk space requirements beyond the standard minimum requirements for Windows
  • A working microphone and speaker. A headset is recommended for ease of use.
  • An account on a SIP server/IP PBX or with a VoIP provider. 3CX does not provide any VoIP accounts. VoIP providers that have been tested with 3CXPhone are listed here.

Installing 3CXPhone

The 3CXPhone is a software IP Phone and is easy install:

  1. Download the latest 3CXPhone from
    http://www.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPhone4.msi

  2. Click ‘Run’ to execute setup. Follow the dialogs.

  3. The files will be copied. Click Finish to complete installation.

  4. Now you will need to create a profile based on whether you are connecting to a PBX on your LAN (Local Area Network), a remote PBX (i.e. you are working from home for example) or to a VoIP Provider.

Changing the language of 3CXPhone

3CXPhone is available in many languages including German, French, Spanish, Italian and many more. You can view the latest list of available languages from the preferences dialog and select a language to download and install ‘on the fly’. To do this

  1. Click on the round button at the bottom of the phone
  2. Click on the preferences icon
  3. Now, click the ‘Download languages’ in the language section

  4. Select your preferred language. 3CXPhone will download the latest translation for that language and automatically install it.
