It works fine this way indeed. Just did a fresh install on a Hyper-V instance with Windows 2008 R2 as the client OS last week following this guide. Only the 3CX Skype Gateway is experiencing quite some problems on Windows 2008 R2, but that's a story apart from this tutorial.

Good point Nick. It would indeed be the easiest to just parse the call data and process the tariffs separate from 3CX. I just ran a test to get a sample output. It could be handy to add some info on how to output the information in XML instead of plain text so that XSL(T) can easily be applied and mistakes in what data is represented by what line are minimized.

You can edit the call rates from the interface. They are actually stored in the database.

You could analyze the CDR records and when you feel an extension should be disabled you could disable it using the HTTP API or the Call API

To achieve this you would need to investigate the Call Control API. More information here:

Second question, is there an API or specific file that can be used/edited to set the call rates automatically through custom software?

Yes, you can. You just have to pick up the CDR records being outputted and then you can add the charge to the bill.

I've tried with above method with snom 300, 320 and 360. seems like the http string is not correct. by executing the url http://admin:admin@/command.htm?number=
the phone does not trigger a call.
any suggestion?

A couple of quick questions:

1. Windows 7 Home/Premium are supported, whereas Vista home versions were not. Why is Windows 7 home now supported?

Edit - Nick G - Only Windows 7 Home is supported since its the most recent, but it works on Vista home too.

2. Assume connection limit on XP/Vista/Win 7 is 10. What constraints does this connection limit place on 3CX? (If UDP is connectionless, therefore I assume this is not a constraint upon maximum possible number of simultaneous calls in transoding mode?)

Edit - Nick G - There is no connection limit on Vista or Win 7 and the XP connection limit is no longer applicable as only Cassini is supported on this platform

3. Is 3CX essentially 32 bit code? If not what benefit is there to use 64 bit OS over 32 bit OS - for example lets say if you had to choose between Win 7 Pro 32 bit or Win 7 Pro 64 bit?
Edit - Nick G - There is no significant performance improvement by going to 64bit.

4. Is Cassini more performant on 32 bit vs 64 bit in this example?
Not to our knowledge....
