Configuring the Inter-Digit Timer

The inter-digit timer is used to configure the amount of time the phone waits after each digit is dialled before it assumes the user has finished entering digits and automatically sends the dialled number. This only applies whilst the phone is already off the hook. This setting needs to be configured on the phone. This article explains how to do this on the phones supported by 3CX Phone System.

  5. Locate the “Digitmap” option. Polycom phones makes use of digit maps as defined in RFC 3435. A good explanation of Polycom digit maps can be found here. You would need to locate the matching option (which is separated by |) and configure the corresponding Digitmap (inter-digit) Timeout. In our example, we would like to change the timeout for the third matching option.

  6. The Digitmap Timeout setting is located directly under the Digitmap setting. In our case, we would need to change the third Digitmap Timeout option to the desired number of seconds.
  7. After customizing the digitmap Timeout, select Submit and wait for the phone to update its configuration.

  1. This is excellent, thanks. Can one edit the provisioning templates of Yealink phones to include the desired inter-digit timeout parameter? It would be a serious task to do this manually on all extensions.
