How do I install the Microsoft Windows XP fax client?

Connecting to a Fax to print to Fax from a Windows XP Computer

The scope of this article is to be able to send faxes to a shared printer. This shared printer can be any printer – hardware and software. However in relation to 3CX Phone System, the shared printer in this case would eventually be a computer/server with the 3CX Fax Sending module installed. The 3CX Fax Sending module will be shared and users in the network will be able to connect to it and send faxes through it using Microsoft Fax.

  1. Add Printer Wizard
Click start and go to Printers & Faxes, and select Add Printer. The Add printer wizard will launch. Click on Network printer option.
  2. Specifying printer to connect to

Click on the radio button to connect to this printer. Enter the Server name\fax. Click Next. The screenshot above shows that on a server named 3cxserver there is a fax/printer named fax.

  3. You will be prompted to select whether you want this printer to be the default printer. Click Finish. The printer driver on Windows XP is now installed.
  4. To send a FAX, print normally to this new fax printer or select File / Send To / Recipient using a Fax Modem.
