I am using 3CX on Windows Home Server. Not listed here.

  • Matthew Orr says:

You have listed Windows SBS as a supported platform. Since 3CX is is NOT supported on a domain controller, I assume you are referring to installing 3CX on the Premium edition’s second server, not locally on the SBS server.

  • Nick Galea says:

3CX is supported on a domain controller – it works fine on a Small Business Server

  • Daryl James says:

    A couple of quick questions:

    1. Windows 7 Home/Premium are supported, whereas Vista home versions were not. Why is Windows 7 home now supported?

Edit – Nick G – Only Windows 7 Home is supported since its the most recent, but it works on Vista home too.

    2. Assume connection limit on XP/Vista/Win 7 is 10. What constraints does this connection limit place on 3CX? (If UDP is connectionless, therefore I assume this is not a constraint upon maximum possible number of simultaneous calls in transoding mode?)

Edit – Nick G – There is no connection limit on Vista or Win 7 and the XP connection limit is no longer applicable as only Cassini is supported on this platform

    3. Is 3CX essentially 32 bit code? If not what benefit is there to use 64 bit OS over 32 bit OS – for example lets say if you had to choose between Win 7 Pro 32 bit or Win 7 Pro 64 bit?
Edit – Nick G – There is no significant performance improvement by going to 64bit.

    4. Is Cassini more performant on 32 bit vs 64 bit in this example?
    Not to our knowledge….

  • David Benet says:

What about Windows Home Server? This would be a great low cost option for SMB.

  • Nick Galea says:

Its better to use a mainstream OS such as Windows 7 or else Windows Foundation server. The cost difference is not that big…
