@Pierre - thanks for your mail. We are not planning a 3CX assistant for Mac, however you can use the extension page in the myphone portal to get an overview of the extensions
@John - thanks for the headsup!
@Timothy - it should automatically create a call record, does it do that?

3CX really was a good investment for our 2 small companies ! While V8 improved auto configuration for non-IT experts like me (we use Linksys phones) this V9 really is a step forward again.

There is really one feature that we are missing: a "basic" Mac OS 3CX Assistant. Even if it were with reduced functionality's (extensions statuses overview+own extension status setting and queue attendance).
You probably have more and more SME users having a Mac...at least I hope this will soon make economical sense for you to implement !

@steve
"Also, the ability to paste a phone number into the screen"
Steve, this feature is implemented since version 3. Copy a text into clipboard, click the display and click CTRL+V - it still works. Also, text drag-drop (from drag-capable applications, such IE or Firefox) onto phone's display is implemented since then and working.

@Paul. Thanks for your feedback. You can set the status only from 3CX Assistant, and it will not automatically go to another status when computer is locked or screensaver is on. Its something you have to do manually.

@Steve - we are planning an update 3CXPHone separately. However we do not have echo cancellation yet but the best way to deal with this is to have a good headset. Its the headset that will make all the difference. Rather then correct it at software level its best to get a good headset and have it correct "at input" level. Re Outlook Exchange - this is not on the road map. However in combination with the 3CX Assistant you can use the Outlook phone book, it will just dial via 3CXPhone. Hope that helps.

Hi All

V9 looking better with every update. The sorting in the Assistant is perfect once more.

I have noticed what may be a new anomoly in the 3CXPhone. The 'Set to Away' option when the computer is locked or when the screen saver is on seems not to work. I think that it did work for one of our users but instead of setting the status to 'Away', I think it set 'Custom#2'.

Am I doing someing wrong?

Any changes in the SoftPhone? I had some issues with the current one, notably echo. Also, the ability to paste a phone number into the screen rather than either clicking in the number manually or connecting from a phone list. Last, some way to get the phone book to import or draw from Outlook/Exchange.

Could we please have web-based reporting? However, it should only be for reports generation and not include PBX configurations. Most customers delegate the reporting to non-Admin personnels.

Thanks.

I stopped receiving the blog update notification emails a couple weeks ago. There is nothing listed in my spam filter (Google's Postini) from 3CX. And if I try subscribing for the notifications it tells me my email address is already subscribed. Is anybody else having issues?

Hello,

Regarding item #2 above (PIN code dialing), I believe that using the outbound rule method allows someone to use the redial or dial history of the phone to see your PIN code. Integrating a PIN code function to the phonesystem would be very desirable in order to avoid this kind of issue.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your feedback. Re your questions
1. The call reporting database is openly available and has been since the start of the 3CX. You can access the data and make any report you want...
2. PIN code dialing has been requested but you can already do it right now by using outbound rules. You just create an outbound rule that forces the use of a 4 digit (i.e. pincode) prefix and then apply it to 1 or more extensions. I believe what you want though is a separate user database so that users can enter a pin and make a call and this will be logged separately. Not in v9 but we will consider this for future versions
3. The reporter is not something you give to all users so i believe its OK that its not web based, but nevertheless we are considering a web based one but this would require admin access to the admin console
4. Class of service is not something we are working on at the moment. You mentioned you do not like the prompt but its easy to change this prompt to whatever text you like in the system prompts node...

I hope this helps, thanks again for your feedback

Hi Guys,
I have two very important requests.
The 1st is one i was told to expect by 3cx support in v9 and it effects one of our clients almost to the point of loss of the contract with them. Could you please please please add a report into the reporter that gives me call statistics but includes the total times for answered, unanswered etc. Basically the existing call statistics report is what we need but instead of average time we need total times. This client and another we are holding back on wants totals per extn of their activites. If you cannot do this then i really need a way to access your database directly to write a new call reporter program to do this for us, so please please consider this request.

2nd very important request is the ability to enforce a pin code for external dialling and report on activity by Pin, we have lost around 12 sales in the last month becuase this feature is not there. What we require is that a user picks up a phone, enters in a pin number then the external number, and then we can do a report by pin to see what the user dialled in that month. It is critical that no external calls can be made with out first entering in the pin number. What would be fanastic is a option on each 3cx extn to enforce pin dialling, so that we can force pin code use on only the extn we select. An example of why this would just make our day is so we can say all extn outside of the management office need pin numbers and those in the management office do not.

Also just some other things that would really help out.
1.Web enable the reporter, at present we have to get a user to log onto the 3CX pabx either physically or via Remote desktop to run the reporter. This is really not ideal as we had to setup a whole set of user profiles on the pabx to stop the user from doing something nasty. It a bit like in the IT world you would never let a user log directly onto a server, so changing your reporter to a web interface would make 3CX just even more awesome and follow good security practice.

2.Class of Service, it would be great if we could create various class of services that stop certain numbers from being dialled if the extn is in that class of service/s. at present we create a outbound rule that matches say 0 for toll call and does not route it to a provider, then put extn in that outbound rule. This works in stopping the extn from dialling anything beginning with a 0 but they get a voice prompt saying no route available etc instead of sorry you are not permiitted to make this call. The exisiting prompt then causes a helpdesk call as the caller think something is wrong with the pabx, which of course there is not. What we have done as a suggestion is create a secondary proxy server(our own internal development) that acts as a voip provider, we then add in our own provider to the outbound rule which simply plays a message when it receives a call request. the message is something nice like call is not permitted. One simple way i think you could do this is to allow the outbound rule to route to a Voicemail box or digital receptionist.

sorry for the long post and i hope some ideas will be taken on board. Every little feature you add really makes a huge difference to sales and we are 100% committed to 3CX and only want to help it get better and better.
thanks

@Fabio - We are working on this. Outlook crm plugin works on 64 bit on 2003 and 2007 versions. Next version will have outlook 2010 integration too.
