Upgrading or Re-installing 3CX Phone System – New Recorded Webinar

It’s always exciting when a new version of a software you use frequently comes out. New features, bug fixes and numerous improvements are always good and help us do our jobs more efficiently.

During the webinar for Upgrading and Re-installing, we explained the basic concepts required to backup, uninstall, install and restore your PBX settings. For those of you who didn’t make it to the live webinar, you can watch the recorded version by clicking on the link below:

These online trainings are part of the revamped 3CX Academy where online trainings are held in an interactive and educational way using our very own, recently launched, 3CX WebMeeting.

3CX Online Trainings are becoming extremely popular. Note that places are given on a first come, first serve basis.

Updating

Updating between Service Packs is a very simple process. All that is required is to go into the Management Console, go to the System Updates. Choose the next available service pack and click on Download Selected. The service pack will be downloaded and applied. This is a very simple process and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. Eventhough a backup is not required, taking a backup is always a good practice.

Backing Up

Backing up your 3CX Phone System is very straight forward. In the 3CX Phone System program group, use the 3CX Backup and Restore Tool. You can choose to backup only the configuration by default, or use the check boxes to backup more information, like Voicemails, Call Hstory, Call recordings, Voice Prompts, music on hold and the firmware folder. Choose a file name and save location. Clicking the backup Database button will back everything up in a matter of minutes.

Upgrading or Re-installing

Upgrading or re-installing your PBX follows the same procedure. You will need to backup your PBX configuration, uninstall the PBX and re-install using either the existing version or a new version. When you (re)install, just recover your backup and you are set to go! During the installation you can also choose the webserver you want to use. If you need to change from Abyss to IIS (Server installations) you can do this by using the uninstall/re-install procedure, and choose IIS during the installation process. Quick and simple!
