3CX Phone System 9 goes Unified Communications with Video support

V9 of the popular Windows Phone system adds video support, android client and enterprise capabilities

London, 26 July 2010 – 3CX has released version 9 of its popular phone system for Windows. Version 9 is a significant upgrade that adds video support as well as enterprise features such as the ability to monitor remote PBX installations via 3CX Assistant and automatic remote installation and configuration of 3CXPhone and 3CX Assistant.

“3CX Phone System 9 is now a complete Unified Communications solution –We have added standards based video and support for smartphones as clients. At the same time we have added key enterprise features that widen 3CX’s appeal to larger companies”

“3CX continues to take market share and now has over 20,000 server installations worldwide. I expect that with v9 this number will grow dramatically.”

Video support
V9 allows single click set-up of video calls with other 3CXPhone users or with standards based video phones such as from Xlite, Yealink or Grandstream.

Android smartphone support
3CX v9 allows Android smartphone users to make and receive calls from anywhere using their extension. Android users just download the 3CXPhone for Android softphone and configure it to use their 3CX Phone System account.

Provisioning of 3CXphone and 3CX Assistant
Deploying and administering 3CXPhone and 3CX Assistant installations is now much easier via the provisioning feature. Phone System users can install the client apps by clicking on an HTTP link which will automatically install and configure them. Changes to the configuration, as well as software updates are automatically pushed out to the clients.

Multi Site – capability
Monitor presence and queues on remote PBXs and transfer calls between PBXs

SLA / Shared parking
Seamless Key System like functionality for “sharing” phone lines without the need to transfer calls. Supports standards based SIP phones, no proprietary phones required.

Microsoft Dynamics support
Trigger outbound calls from within Microsoft Dynamics and resolve inbound calls to customer records automatically. All calls are reported and logged with the relevant customer record.

Other Features

  • 3CX Assistant now allows for creating conference calls to internal and external users with a few mouse clicks
  • Improved presence and call forwarding
  • G722 support
  • New Bundled High Performance web server: Abyss

Free Edition
3CX Phone System is available as a free edition as well as a commercial edition. The Free edition can be downloaded here.

    hi nick,
has the outlook 2010 x64 plugin for the assistant been released in this v9 final?
    thanks and regards.

  • Nick Galea says:

@fabio – no outlook 2010 is not included in v9. Still something we are working on, will be another month or so.
@Kiwivoip – thanks for the heads up!
@Ramon – If you are a 3CX Partner your NFR key will always work with the latest version. No need for a new key. If it does not activate please contact your Regional Sales Manager as it does require that you have made a purchase with us within a reasonable amount of time…
@nforngang – you can already dial in to the voice mail menu and then dial an external number. Do you mean that?

  • Paul says:

I have been impressed with the foresight Nick and his team has shown. Supporting the Android first is a good move. Apple will be pushed out of the market like Novell was if they stay completely closed off and arrogant.

  • Nick Galea says:

Hi Paul, Thanks for the heads up, much appreciated! Yes Android is clearly going places and market statistics are speaking for it. The sony Xperia X10 series are a hit and i believe will set a standard for future mobile phones…

  • Sanchez says:

Great Product! We are new resellers and are getting to know the system each and every day. One problem i ran into with the softphone app for google, i can receive calls, but cannot dial out. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

  • Nick Galea says:

@Sanchez – thanks for your feedack! Please log a support call in the reseller support portal and we can help you there.

  • Alex Gonzalez says:

Still having issues with the 3CX Call Assistant and Outlook calling.
Making calls from Outlook 2007 gives us a “Call Transfer Failed” message. For some reason the TAPI driver is adding a “%20″ before the number being dialed.

Support has been saying it’s a known issue for months, but where’s the fix??? This needs to be fixed!

  • Nick Galea says:

@Alex – many customers use Outlook 2007 with 3CX Assistant without any issues at all so i believe its an issue specific to your install. I suggest you take this up with support and have it escalated to Kevin Attard Compagno and i will discuss your ticket with him.

  • Kevin says:

@Alex – Thanks for reporting this. I have identified your support ticket and will be following up with the Testing and Development team.

  • Guy says:

Does your company sell a softphone that supports video? We already have an Elastix system in place that supports 600 Nokia N800 devices out in the field and I need a video capable softphone, other than Xlite.

  • Nick Galea says:

    Hi Guy,

You can use the 3CXphone for Windows free of charge, it supports video. Its SIP standard based so it should work fine with Elastix. As the phone is free though we do not provide tech support for it though unless you have 3CX Phone System.

  • Bash says:

Can anybody help me in retrieving the User ID I forgot after instalation ???
