Good work, looks all very promising the new version.

What I was wondering, are there plans to support additional prompt-sets? (or multi prompt-sets I must say)

So for English customers they get English, and Dutch, Dutch prompts?

@Jason
I guess I figure out properly this time:

- in current version of 3CXphone, video calls works only in intranet and, for internet, by using tunnel; direct (not tunneled) on internet doesn't work, RTP ports are not "proxied" by the PBX for video media. Therefore, both phones are prepared to listen but it's listening addrees is not "reachable" by the remote sender - so, 3CXphone displays the TV pattern because it's listening, but no signal incoming.

- for an intranet connection, 3CXphone sends less compressed (better quality) video; for an internet connection - including tunnel - video is more compressed (lower quality). This is done based on general valid assumption that intranet bandwidth is better than internet one, therefore 3CXphone tries to save bandwidth in case of internet connection.

Hope it helps (sorry for my english, not my native language).

I still don't see the one feature that
I must have for my SOHO clients:
simultaneous/sequential ring for local
extensions and remote PSTN/SIP clients.

If I understand 'Rebound', I am opposed
(violently opposed) to it as a mandatory
function (OK as an option). It requires
the caller to announce self, which implies:
either I am screening against certain
callers, or am too 'important' for some.

I realize there's poor line supervision
for SIP/PSTN trunks for answers; a simple
'press 1 to take call' would solve this
and the issue with mobile phone voicemail. Dave

Thanks Nick and Vali,
We have done more testing and not quite sure what is the problem with the video, we have a laptop that when plugged into the local lan and tries a video call to internal extn, everything works perfect. We take the same laptop off LAN onto a 8mb/756kb ADSL link with no other traffic and try the same call, voice is perfect but we get the TV test pattern, we then try the laptop using the 3CX tunnel, we then get video but get quite a bit of noise displayed on the video. We have run other video tests using MS Netmeeting and H323 video conference over the same link with the same laptop and local PC with no video issues at all. Bandwidth stats on the two routers at either end so a ample amount of bandwidth free so we can not say its a bandwidth issue with the adsl link.
Any ideas on this one.
Why this feature is so great is we are looking at a school that does remote learning and having the ability to use 3CX to accomplish a video classroom rather than some other product is very attractive and would clince deal.
thanks and great work guys

@Jason
Jason, I suggest you to open phone's Debug window and have a look there when you make or get a video call. Several "user-friendly" traces are provided to help user to locate and fix an issue.

Then, 3CXphone tries to provide visual feedback about video transmission state. The common "turned off" screen with 3CX logo means that 3CXPhone doesn't listen for incoming video; posssible reasons
- video calls disabled from Preferences dialog
- 3CXPhone's H263 video codec not installed properly
- remote party doesn't support video calls (such as "audio-only" calls)
- remote party cannot send H263-encoded video signal

The next visual feedback is the "noise". It is displayed in case of video calls properly established, but incoming video signal is missing for longer than 300 ms. Therefore, image freeze for 300 ms, then "noise" is displayed.

Last visual feedback is the "TV-test-pattern", which is displayed in case of video calls properly established, bu after ~1.5 sec of missing incoming video signal. Therefore, when signal is lost, image freeze for 300 ms, then noise is displayed for ~1.2 sec, then the TV-pattern is displayed.

Hope it helps.

@Jason
if provider supports H263, it will work. however the provider needs to be unbound from Media server. This is not a problem of ports. Client application is trusted inside out. Router will keep the ports used in its mapping table. Vertical lines means no signal.

About the bridge the next version will support this.

@ community - Updated new prompts for Voicemail for Version 9 for following languages
French, German, UK English. More are on the way. Download them from system updates.

Thanks Nicky, sigh of relief and really looking forward to this version.
Another two questions,
1. The 3CX Phone using video - is there any special ports that need to be opened on the firewall for the video stream? Our attempts so far have seen a remote video coming back to the caller that looks like a TV test screen (vertical coloured lines).

2. Can the 3CX phone using video be used over bridge connections and also VoIP providers if they support the codec?. we have tried over a bridge but no video.

Many thanks again

@fabio - Soon. I refer to outlook 2010 32 and 64 bit. We already support Assistant + CRM on outlook 2003/7 32 and 64 bit.

Demo keys are updated with every release. please try again - should work.

@jason - Yes we are. we realized this already. In the next rel you will have Make call via pbx using make call + a checkbox saying Use Intercom mode. By default it will be checked. Users that don't want this behaviour can uncheck this and get the old behaviour.

Hi,

we have been testing out the betas and now RC1 and its looking great.
One issue we have is with the assistant, can we have the option to not make a call in intercom mode like v8, this is not going to work for our customers. The operator using the assistant is only a store and forward of the call and having her do a drag and drop of a call to an extn and it automatically goes off hook is really going to make the assistant unusable for them. We need the option where the operator can drag and drop and the call then rings the extn as per V8 and the operator can forget about the call.
Can we get this option back please, we will loose a lot of customers if we cannot\thanks very much

@Paul - thanks for the feedback. We will check these matters out. re conference for the phone - it would be better to use the inbuilt conferencing in 3Cx Phone System if possible. Using 3CX Assistant its now very easy to setup a conference....
@Fei Yu - thank you for the feedback. Groupchat, LDAP address book and resolving of caller ID are in consideration. Re Outlook contacts i believe its best if the customer uses the Outlook contacts and then triggers a call from there... File transfer and Desktop sharing are not currently planned. If Microsoft OCS 14 would be SIP compliant and truly open standard that would definitely be interesting but so far its not materialised yet.

Early days but V9 is getting better and better. Just a couple of observations in the 3CX Assistant:-

1. In V8, I think that logged in users were listed first - this is no longer the case - is this by design?

2. 'Sort by name' option doesn't work

The V9 3CX Phone is great too. How about adding a conference button?

Keep up the good work

@Nick,

the 3CX assistant is really improving leaps and bounds....especially the Video.....I really looking forward to the following 7 things:
1) File Transfer
2) Desktop Sharing (1-1)
3) LDAP Addressbook
4) Group Chats
5) Import Outlook Contacts to (MyPhone AddressBook)
6) Correlate LDAP Users and 3CX Extensions with SIP URI entries
 (Preferably similar to Email Address)
7) Resolve incoming/outgoing Caller ID to Contact Names from MyPhone Addressbook including voicemail and miss-call notifications

To really make 3CX Assistant a truely enterprise capable internal IM client. There is just simply a lack of a FULL FEATURED Unified Communications Client....

Microsoft OCS 14 promises Direct SIP integration..... with current SIP PBXes..

@Nick....

I just felt the current 3CX Extension Groups should be put to better use..... than just to logically group extensions at this moment.... :)

Its such an administrative nightmare to currently Block/Allow certain extensions to make overseas or external calls....
We have to manually type in thoes extensions one by one....

This is really a badly needed feature that puts 3CX 3 steps behind compared to legacy PBXes on the market.

It would really be good if we can logically group extensions into different logical groups... and delegate the rights to use each outbound rules via these groups....

It would have been even better if we can set distinct options on each Extension groups :) (i.e. able to set PIN codes for each Extension group on each outbound Rules...

is it safe to restore version 8 database on this ? my restore got stuck on "restoring call history"
also not sure about the new call rules - looks like ver 8 rules was easier to set up , configure and that you could do more with them
but we will see
is there any place we can ask for help on version 9 now ? i dont want this ver to be launched if we cant do rules that we could do in ver 8
