New 3CX Phone System Extends User Mobility and Cost Savings

Users can work from anywhere and make savings on their phone bill with 3CX Phone System 11.

3CX, international telecommunications developer, today announced the availability of 3CX Phone System version 11, which increases user mobility by working hand in hand with 3CXPhone for Android and iPhone. It introduces a new look to 3CX MyPhone and allows users to see the presence of, and interact with, users on bridged PBXs.

Users can now take 3CX MyPhone with them wherever they go as they can sign in to their PBX when in or out of the office from any computer. This allows users to see the presence and status of others, join queues, and take advantage of Unified Communications, such as instant messaging, from anywhere with an internet connection.

Remote Extension from Anywhere with Android and iPhone

3CX Phone System 11 works hand in hand with 3CXPhone for Android and 3CXPhone for iPhone – free softphones and full desktop phone replacements, which allow users to make phone calls via WiFi and 3G. By connecting these apps with 3CX Phone System 11, users can take their extension with them anywhere. Integration between 3CX Phone System 11 and 3CXPhone for Android has been vastly improved, as has auto-provisioning, making it a great solution for Tele-Workers and sales people who are on the go.

Users can now see the presence of colleagues on bridged PBXs with 3CX MyPhone. Each PBX appears as a tab in a single instance of 3CX MyPhone and users can switch between them to easily chat and interact with their coworkers on the secondary PBX.

Schedule and Manage Conference Calls with a Few Mouse Clicks

3CX MyPhone makes conferencing easier than ever as it only takes a few mouse clicks to create a conference call and add new participants, whether they use an internal extension or an external number. Users can schedule conference calls and email invitations with an .ics file so that the conference call can quickly be added to a participants calendar. Invitees on the same PBX will automatically be called on their extension at the scheduled time and connected to the conference, making the setup and management of a conference a breeze.

Additionally, the host can monitor the complete progress of the conference, seeing when participants enter or leave.

Never Miss an Important Call with New Customer Service Features

With 3CX Phone System 11, the 3CX Call Center Module now alerts the user when a call has been in a queue for too long, allowing a free agent to prioritize and quickly deal with it. Should a call be abandoned, 3CX MyPhone will keep a record of it so that agents can call the person back and then remove those calls from the list, therefore improving customer service levels and staff efficiency.

Users of the 3CX Call Center Module together with 3CX Phone System 11 can also take advantage of priority queues – any call to a priority queue gets fast-tracked to the top of the pile. You can also configure a maximum number of callers in a queue and even assign a queue extension to a mobile phone for roaming agents.

Queue statistics can be reset daily or weekly, to improve analysis of agents’ performance. Additionally, a caller now has the option to opt out of being recorded.

New Web Reports Application Makes Reporting Easy

A new web application with 3CX Phone System 11 allows users to easily create various reports. Reports have been improved for accuracy, and there are two new reports that you can generate – by call type (for example: national, international, mobile, etc.) and secondly, a report for outbound calls per group. These two reports are available in the Pro and Enterprise versions of 3CX Phone System.

  • Native 64-bit support.
  • Country blocking feature with an email notification when a user attempts to make a call to a country that has been blocked.
  • PIN Protect Feature – Require a PIN number to be entered before an outbound call can be made.
  • The 3CX MyPhone layout and re-sizing of extension group boxes will now be saved.
  • 3CX MyPhone will automatically connect to local (LAN) or external (WAN) networks.
  • Configure different ring tones for different types of call – from Queue, external, etc.
  • Receive email notifications of missed calls.
  • Ability to configure different holiday prompts, e.g. Christmas themed messages can be played on December 25th every year, etc.

    As usual, 3CX has developed and released the next level of IT Telephony. The newest platform of 3CX PBX, Version 11 surpasses every other Windows Based PBX presently on the market.     The V11 manual seems to say that WinXP SP3 is still supported, but a previous post stated that XP would be abandoned for the final release.
    Is XP still up for a last round with V11, or could XP later be dropped with potential service packs?

    For very small businesses like mine, it is quite important to know: if I upgrade to V11, I want to make sure I won’t be missing security updates. On the other hand of course, this is not a complaint about potentially dropping a very old OS.

    • @Tony – The 3CX Hotel module is version bound. This means that 3CX Phone system Version 10 will need 3CX Hotel Module Version 10 to work.
      Therefore 3CX Phone System Version 11 needs 3CX Hotel Version 11 which is still not yet ready.
      If you are using the 3CX Hotel module you need to stay on Version 10 until the V11 is released.

    • @Many – Definitely –
      First confirm that you are on the latest service pack for Version 10 – Sp6. So click on System updates > Service packs and update to the latest version.
      After this take a backup using the 3CX Backup and restore tool.
      Uninstall Version 10 and download + install Version 11.
      Restore the backup using the 3CX Backup and restore tool.

    • @Ian – Coming soon – We had to finalize the main 3CX Phone System installation before. Soon we will have the multitenant release for V11. For now you will need to stay on Version 10 until it is out.

    I’m interested to know the answer to Pierre’s question as well. Is XP SP3 still supported in 3CX version 11? I still have some XP machines out there.

    Also, are there download links for the MyPhone Desktop Components msi’s for version 11? When we upgrade, I want to be able to update my GPO’s too.

    • @Steven T – its time to upgrade your operating system. Whilst we have not disabled 3CX to run on XP, it is no longer supported. @nochum – we are looking in to this. You should be able to run Myphone over HTTPS without issues.

    V11 provides great improvements for our company. We’ve been testing the features and the only issue we’ve seen is the “Call By Name” option in the Digital Receptionist doesn’t appear to be working, unless I’m not understanding how to use it. It does ask for the first 3 letters of the last name, which I enter, but it isn’t finding an extension and I’m not prompted for more letters. Is there any documentation on how to use that feature or are there known issues and it shouldn’t be used at this time? Thanks! Meg
