SP1 v14 Available, PACKED With New Features

As if all the new features included in the release of v14 weren’t enough, we have added even more cool new features in SP1… and this time round it’s all about the users.

SP1: Users Take First Seat

BLF panel on 3CXPhone for Windows

We’ve added a “virtual” BLF side panel to the 3CX Windows Softphone, that looks and behaves like the $100 BLF button panels on IP Phones. Only it’s free and you can expand/remove it when you want! The BLF panel makes it easy to check collegues statuses and offers quicker blind and attended transfer. See these videos how easy a blind or attended transfer is.

Quick search for users / extensions to call

3CXPhone for Windows did not allow you to quickly search for a user from the dial pad. Now typing a letter or a number will automatically filter your contact list and suggest users/extensions. You can then call or transfer a call to a user. This will save many clicks and make transferring much, much easier. See this in action during a blind transfer and an attended transfer.

One click web meetings on demand!

Setting up ad hoc web meetings is now SO much easier. Just click on the web meeting icon in the 3CX main window to instantly setup a 3CX WebMeeting. Then add participants from the Invite button in the 3CX WebMeeting screen.


And as a reminder – all customers upgrading to v14 before 30th December will receive 25 participants for free for the lifetime of their maintenance!

Easier setting of your status!

Presence is one of the hottest unified communications features, but it requires you to set your status! In v14 SP1 that’s now a whole lot easier. The DND button on your phone sets your status to away. Secondly, you can specify that your status will automatically switch back to the previous status after a preset time, for example one hour. Set your status to “Lunch” and have it go back to available automatically an hour later.

    How to delete or at least change number of default fax extension 888 ?
    It is rather annoying forcing to use number 888 as fax.

      @Orlin, thanks for the question. You can create another fax extension, using which ever extension number your like, set it as the default then you can delete the default 888 one.

  3. Hello. I attempted to upgrade with the web GUI but the download selected button is greyed out. Is it not possible to upgrade within the GUI? Do I need to download the installer again and upgrade?

  4. Found the upgrade with RDP in the backend. I guess when your running it from a web server, you think you can upgrade via the browser but the backend upgrade is no problem as well.

      HI Paul, thanks for the question. You should be able to update to v14 SP1, for the single instance installation, using a web browser from outside the actual server. It does though require some time between the management console logging off and then refreshing to allow you to log in again after the update. With the Multiple Instance Virtual PBX Server installation the SP1 update will need to be run using the 3CX Cloud Pbx Manager tool installed on the server and updates all instances at the same time.

    by way of previous upgrades, i have 3cx phone system build 12.5.44288.1005 installed on my server. i’ve performed a backup and when I try to install v14 it recognizes an older version of 3CX and suggests to uninstall 3CX and re-run installation.

    based on the upgrade steps it indicates that if I have v12.5 installed I can upgrade directly to v14.

    i must be missing something.

    Ever since I upgraded to SP1, WEBRTC is no longer working. I have tested with other instances and realized its the same issue. Is there anything I’m missing? Checked with another client and they also don’t have it working. When you open the link and click on the dial button, you get a call failed response and it goes back to ready

    • @Ben Yes because of an update that google chrome made after release. This broke Webrtc.
      We have patches for this that fixes the problem. Contact 3CX support.

      @Greg, thanks for the question. If you are running reports using an extension to log in to the management console make sure that under the extensions settings, ‘Access’ section, the ‘Ability to download all recordings’ is ticked for the ‘Allow 3CX Report feature’.

      @Charalambos I have tried while logged in as admin and a user with the correct access rights. When we receive the report we do not have the links.

      Is there an option that has to be enabled somewhere?

      @Greg, Thanks for the reply, Are you using v14 sp1? if so then the call recordings should appear in the call log report. If you are still not seeing them then please contact your 3CX reseller /partner to open a ticket with our support team so that they can investigate this for you, if you do not have a support contract yourself.

    For some reason after the service pack was installed everyone’s voicemail greeting is missing.
    Is there a way to restore just voicemail greetings so everyone doesn’t have to record them again?

      Did you by any chance upgrade to Version 14 from Version 12? (Not V12.5?)
      If Yes then this is the problem because V12 had a bug which was fixed in Version 12.5 related to this.
      It is always best practice to upgrade to the latest version from the latest available version at the time. So you should have
      Upgrade 12.0 to 12.5
      Upgrade from 12.5 to V14.
      What you can do is get the backup of V12, open it, go to the Data Voicemails section and get all the extension folders you see and copy them to the new V14 structure inside Instance 1 folder. If you want more detailed information best open a support ticket. Thanks

    Hi there,

    With the release of new IOS client for 3cx phone system 14, notifications do not work anymore for free edition of 3cx phone system 2SC. This does not awake the iphone when any incoming call is received.

      @Charalambos, I’ve removed the account and resent welcome email, yet i get the same error whereby on left top of client screen it says “Update 3CX” instead of status as before. Neither do the notifications work to awake the ios client.

    I am a bit confused, has v14 been fully production released or is it still considered to be in release candidate? Is this a Service Pack for the RC, which I am presuming it is, but that doesnt fit with new features being added, as I am used to RC’s being feature locked.

    @ Mark, thanks for the question. The full release is the same version as the RC release, nothing was changed. If you are using the RC version you can update to SP1 without issue.

    If i set a meeting for 30min. after 30 min my status is back to the normal… It’s very dangerous to not update back the status automatically. Therefore you cannot apply the functionality for only some people and not for some others…

    Please, just give the option available…And you will see people prefer to bi disturbed against be unavaible because of forget to push back…

    @Greg, thanks for the question. Select all your phones from the extensions node then click edit extension. Then from the BLF page you can set all your stranded BLF keys that you would like to assign to all phones at the same time.

    The problem is that Plantronics have a new API now and we need to work to update it… We are going to check to see what is happening..
