V15 is Around the Corner – Try the BETA

The BETA release of 3CX v15 is available for download today! The final release is scheduled for the 6th of July, and we can’t wait.

In this release we have included the new Windows client with a brand new interface. We’ve made it much more modern and UC friendly, with more emphasis on the presence screen. For the BETA we have only included one theme but there will be more exciting, never before seen, themes to follow!

The new 3CX WebMeeting Windows and Android client

Improved Web Conferencing

With v15 we’ve set to bring web conferencing to the core of the PBX. We’ve redesigned the interface to make it much more intuitive and user friendly and we’ve also included an Android app for users to be able to join meetings on the go, talk about complete mobility!

The Android app supports Android versions 4.4 and up and gives you the ability to see up to four connected video streaming participants.

Main Fixes

  • Added call history converter to convert call logs from v12.5 to v15.
  • Improved updates functionality – download updates using HTTPS, all new updates are accounted for.
  • Increased the 3CX Tunnel security and made numerous fixes for socket control and better audio delivery.

Still pending and not included in this BETA:

  • Easy configuration of FXS Gateways
  • Easy configuration of DECT base stations & handsets
  • Extension level rights
  • Bulk extension editing
  • Ability to run VAD scripts
  • New SBC build to follow shortly
  • iOS 3CX WebMeeting app

3CX Mac and Windows clients will be automatically updated to work with v15. V14 Android and iOS clients work with v15.

Download 3CX v15 from this form – be sure to enter your details correctly, you will be sent a license key that is required for setup.

IMPORTANT: Partners & Customers that already have commercial/nfr license keys must use their existing key during installation. You can evaluate with a another key, but be sure to leave your subdomain of choice free so it will be linked to the key that you will be using. Do not link your subdomain of choice to a free key (unless you intend to use that).

NOTE: If you have already installed the ALPHA you will need to uninstall and re-install this BETA.

    • Yes you can.. backup will be restored without call history and then we have a tool that is run after that converts call history data to the new format.

    Hi Nick what are next “Extension level rights”?
    There are a chance to disable extension to use DND and all Phone Status ?
    I have more 100 Mobile phone that select different status of Avalaible for not answer to call :::)))

    • That is very hard bruno – Because we have to disable it on all clients.. DND is not used anymore. It is now mapped to out of office profile.
      I understand that users can set to DND and not answer the call but then you need to battle this via a company policy. How will you stop the user from pressing the physical DND Button on the IP Phone? You cannot provision this button on all phones – on some phones this is hardcoded and cannot be changed.
      So what do you do in that case? they have to answer calls – full stop. then generate a daily report of all the unanswered calls, and analyze it. If you see that users should have answered the call and did not, then report them. Maybe the answer to your problem is actually a feature in the reports..not blocking of profile changing.

      Hi Nick, I understand your analysis.
      Unfortunately for me it is taking too long time for control how device work
      I have 5 V14 with 300/400Mobile device connected each system , that work to emulate a simple PTT system
      Currently the workaround I used is disable by provisioning DND feature to SNOM 760 ( device used on control room for comunicate to Mobile , while for all other device i have make routing on the mobile phone by other status ,
      I was hoping that via Class of Service or other feature you permit/deny this service from mangement.
      However thanx for your answer

    • Yes – the VAD you knew up until now, will change. It will be converted into a modern scriptable system where you will be able to control what to do with the call. Using scripting approach, we can manipulate the call in a more flexible way and you can do endless business processes that apply for your company before call answered, after it is answered, Whilst it is in process, and after it ends. Anyways – more information on this coming soon.

    Looking forward to the full release and we have installed the Beta. Can’t wait for the new and improved VAD. Only level of disappointment is as previously noted. We do need to see extension and port activity in the Management Console in order to properly support our remote clients.

    Nicky, a couple of things that were on the idea forum for V15 are not visible in the change log.
    I’m talking about: customizable wallboard, web reporting, ability to report on max concurrent calls.
    Can you tell us a little bit more about these items? Are they in V15?

      Webreporting we have – But happens to be quite a vast subject – can you elaborate?
      Ability to report on max concurrent calls – we have an alert when max calls are reached and you can see a counter in the dashboard. What are your thoughts?

      Pretty sure the web reporting that Jamie is referring to is the same that everyone has been asking to have brought back…what you had in v12.5. A separate website that users can login to to create reports on-demand. The reports could be emailed out, like now, but attached to the email (like you do with faxes and VM’s). The reporting on concurrent calls is so you can see trends and have data to go back to the client about justifying upgrades before people start getting a busy single.

  8. Will the IOS client be more lock screen friendly. Customers are losing calls due to the fact that only a banner appears once you press the home button on an iphone, then unlock, then in some instances open the 3CX application – only to find that too much time has past as you have lost the call. We need the IOS app to circumvent the lock screen similar to the in built phone application.

    • Steve we took note of this because yes we need to improve this part. Thanks for reporting.
      Actually it is a bug – A Right to left swipe should show answer and decline buttons and the answer should bypass the lockscreen. We are working on this.

    • Actually it is working – We just need to explain this.
      We have this support – it’s called Adaptive Push. iOS 9 does not let you tap on the push request.
      (Waiting for ios 10 to be released officially – it will change many things.. We will even be able to put the call on hold and resume it.. ).
      Anyway, currently we have 2 functions available:
      1) Swipe LEFT to RIGHT will require passcode and after will launch app and bring to front.
      2) Swipe RIGHT to LEFT will give you 2 options “Answer” and “Decline”. If you press Answer you can start speaking but phone is not unlocked. So if you want to hang up the call you need to unlock it and end the call.

      You cannot miss the call now – They have to hang up after the first ring.
      It takes (depending where you are) 2-3 rings for the push request to come to the phone.
      Swipe Right to left and you can answer the call immediately.

    Will 3CX allow to 3CX PBX to use on premise MCU for web conference. For Viet Nam, not always have good bandwidth to Australia.

    Will 15 allow mulitple queues to display their own individual stats in 3cx phone or does 15 show the same results as in 14 where the widget combines all of the stats of all of the queues that the extension is in into one widget.

    I noticed in v15 that in the web pages that have a long list of items, like phones or extensions that the menu items at the top scroll off the page. It would be nice if the menus stayed visible when scrolling.

    I noticed in the beta release notes that “Polycom VVX phones supported as legacy phones”.
    That’s great new about supporting the VVX, but why are they only supported as legacy phones? Will they be fully supported phones at some point in the future? Not having fully polycom vvx support could be a deal killer for us.

    Is the problem with Polycom a technical issue with how 3CX works, or just lack of full testing and qualification? All of the other phone systems we’re evaluating seem to fully support polycom, so I’m not sure I understand why 3cx doesn’t.

    • @Jeff We have supported phones, Legacy Phones and unsupported phones.
      Supported phones are where the manufacturer works with us, Adds features in the firmware, we make changes together, and we strive to deliver a firmware that works with 3CX PBX and the IP Phone in question.
      Legacy phones are phones where the manufacturer wants to change nothing. Very little communication and the firmware is AS IS. So obviously we cannot implement features that work on those phones. So these phones are supported with a subset of features. (Example no remote connection – local lan only, no sbc, no firmware updates etc etc). There is no technical issue with how 3CX Works. It all falls down to the bureaucracy policy of the manufacturers. We supported these phones for our customers. But we could not go all the way because we had no support from the manufacturer.
      Non supported phones are non supported – use them at your own risk – we will not help you.
      Should not be a deal killer because we support them as legacy phones. That is enough for you. If you need something else, you have the template and you can made modifications yourself.

      Different pbx’s have different meanings when they say “We support a phone”. For some people “supporting a phone” means it registers, and can make calls.
      For us fully supporting a phone means PNP, Provisioning, Provisioning methods, Firmware updating, Reboot, Reprovision etc etc. You just cannot perform all these things with Polycom.. So they cannot be fully 3CX supported. But maybe other pbx’s yes just make them register and call them supported – what can you do? Maybe they have different agreements as well. You cannot compare.

    plus do you know if I can use my NFR license to unlock all pro functions like adjusting the Queues?

    • We are trying to make it as you said yes – holidays per DID. We have no ETA on this but it is very requested. You can use your NFR yes.

    Hi guys if you create new themes for the windows client – can there be a “high contract” theme for visual disable people? One of our customers has a visual disabled receptionist doing a great job but she has problems using 3CX windows client because of the small font and the gray in the V14 themes.

    • You can do this: right click on the desktop
      press on screen resolution (for windows 10 display settings)
      Find “Make text and other items larger or smaller” and increase it to 125%

    • You need to go from 12 to 12.5. Then 12.5 to 15.
      Cloud move will be easy from 14 to 15. You will have more work to move from 12 to 12.5 and then from 12.5 to 15 than the cloud. Staying on old versions will be painful.

We are seeing problems with the logging ability in the beta, wireshark is showing incoming sip requests directly on the server but nothing is showing in the logs. we enabled verbose and still no dice. its also really painful to not have the extension visibility and incoming calls. looks like a great start down a completely new path, hopefully these rough edges can get worked through soon.

    • Wireshark captures everything. You will always see more. However you can increase the verbosity of 3CX from the Activity log and you will see much more than you can process trust me.. Do not leave it on because it is process intensive. However this part needs some work. What messages are you trying to see?
      Also I would like to mention that many low level activity logs have been transferred to events instead. So it is easier to process 1 line events than reading numerous lines of cryptic logs.

    • We are not seeing calls coming through from our provider (flowroute). No sign of them hitting the pbx, just the termination abrupt end. I checked in the event and set it to verbose. We were trying to switch our production internal system over to v15 tonight but we rolled back. The goal was to spend the holiday weekend getting it dialed while also getting our team trained up on it.
