Even More Features Added to the 3CXPhone for Android Client

We are thrilled to announce the release of the latest 3CXPhone for Android client for 3CX Phone System 12 which now includes the ability to playback your voicemail without needing to dial the voicemail number. Presence has also been enhanced as you can now see the current forwarding rules of your colleagues. For example, if you want to transfer a call to a colleague, you can now see whether your colleague has setup his / her extension to forward calls to his / her voicemail, another extension, Skype, etc.

The new softphone for Android is amazing, but still not ‘green’ enough like previous version 11 and earlier 3.

I mean even in a good wireless signal environment even in standby mode, i.e. no talking at all, 3CX phone is responsible for discharging of over 50% of battery.

This is a big issue, as normal Android phone will not survive for even 12 hours, so using 3CX phone is not possible in real world. I want to mention, this thirsty power consumption is not so much related to new functionality, this happens in standby mode also, while built-in sip phone or projects like csip simple will make very moderate usage of battery in WIFI environment, so this is possible in design. The situation with 3G is not good for any of the phones.

My recommendation to 3CX is to focus also on power consumption, this could be crucial for product’s success. Good functionality only is not enough.

Hope, this comment to be accepted positively by 3CX team.

    Fan of 3CX.

    • @Edi – Thank you for your comments. In the next update you will be able to modify the “Lock WiFi” option to “In Call”. Like this it will lock wifi only whilst you are in a call. When idle, it will definitely preserve battery power. In the current release, we have a bug and lock wifi will remain set to always internally.

When I open the attachment recieved in the Welcome 3CX Phone Configurtation e-Mail, it opens MDM and telling MDM is installed.

      Hi Jesper,

Can you please check and make sure that you are opening the 3CX Phone System welcome email and not the 3CX MDM Welcome email? Please let me know if this is indeed the case and if you have any further inquiries dont hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your time

Hi Andreas.. Yes, It was the attachment sendt from the Phonesystem I was trying to use… I did a uninstall of MDM, and then I was not able to open the attachment.. I ended up registrating manualy.

On a iPhone 4s it worked like a charmme.

Please note, there is no “crapware” on the HTC One, as it was bought soly to test v12.

Btw, will it be right that I can not use my Bluetooth headset with 3CX Phone on Android?

    • @Jesper – I dont know how this happened. Maybe the mdm file was stored in the cache? Did you try and provision the mdm before you tried to provision 3CX?
For now ion this version do not try and use bluetooth. But we are adding support for Android devices 3 and up to work with bluetooth. Send me an email and I can send you an APK to test with.

    Hello,
I am exploring possible sip solutions, and i am very much interested in trying out the android 3cxphone app. I am however not able to find any downló options other than google play. This is not an option for me due to policy. I could do a time consuming bluestacks android in windows install, but it would be better to have a direct apk link posted in the download section. Pleas e consider all non-play users who cannot access this software.

    Cheers, Jayden

    • @Joshua – Why can’t you access google play? Is it blocked even from your Wifi at home?
