In this example we will demonstrate how to perform a blind and attended (consultative) transfer using a Linksys SPA962. We will assume that an incoming call will be received on the Linksys phone which is registered to Extension ---.

Note: A Blind Transfer is a transfer to another extension without actually initiating a call to the end destination. The call is blindly transferred to the destination.
By comparison, an attended transfer is a transfer where before actually transferring to the destination, the call is put on hold and another call is initiated to confirm whether the end destination actually wants to take the call or not. These two calls are then merged together.

Blind transfer method

Step 1: An incoming call received from Extension 118.

Press the Line 1 button to answer the call.

Step 2: More Options.

Press the right arrow button to see more options.

Step 3: Selecting Blind transfer.

Press the blind transfer button (BlindXfer) to start the blind transfer.

Step 4: Enter destination.

Enter the extension number followed by the Dial button. In this example the destination we want to transfer to is Extension 104.

Step 5: Transfer Successful.

The Linksys has successfully transferred the call from 118 to 104. The Linksys will then show the usual idle screen.

Attended transfer method

Step 1: An incoming call is received from Extension 119.

Press the Line 1 button to answer the call.

Step 2: Transfer the call.

Press the transfer button (Transfer) to start the attended transfer procedure. At this point the caller is put on hold.

Step 3: Enter Destination.

Enter the number of the extension you wish to transfer to and press the Dial button. In this example the destination is Extension 104. A call will be initiated to this extension.

Step 4: Line Ringing.

The initial caller 118 is still on hold while 104 is being contacted.

Step 5: Transfer the call to destination.

We will assume that the end destination (extension 104) has agreed to take the original call.
Press the Transfer button to merge both calls together - The original caller (118) will stop hearing music on hold and will be connected to extension 104.
