Dial 0 for Operator

Submitted by on August 5, 2010 – 5:55 pm2 Comments

Sometimes you will want to dial a phone using a number that is NOT its extension number. The following documentation will show you how to set up an alias for an extension.

For Example:  The question we get regularly is “How can we set up Dialing 0 for operator?”.

This can be achieved as follows.

  • Go to 3cx phone system > Extensions
  • Select the extension you want to be operator
  • Go to the other Tab
  • Set the SIPID to “0″

  • Press Apply then OK

Now, from any extension, you can dial “0″ to reach the extension which has “0″ as its SIP ID.

Note that you cannot have multiple extensions with the same SIP ID – the SIP ID must be unique.

Another interesting point to note is that this would also work to dial phones with an alpha-numeric SIP ID.
