How to dial a number from a web page

Submitted by on April 6, 2010 – 3:45 pmNo Comment

Recently Nick published an excellent tip regarding direct dialing from 3CX Assistant on supported phones. I have extended this feature proposing a method to call any number shown on any web page.

To make a call from web page via Yealink or Snom phone you need to do following:

  1. Use Snom or Yealink phone with latest firmware (important!)
  2. You must use Mozilla Firefox (I have not found easy solution for IE)
  3. Install an extension for Forefox named Telify
  4. When it installed, configure it. Use Custom URL. You can use parameters $0, $1, $2, $3 in this URL.

$0 – always a number from web page that passed to our custom URL.  The URL shown above triggering Yealink phone to call a number.

$1-$3 – any custom parameters. For example, I use $1 as Yealink IP address and $2 as 3CX Server address.

Thats all!

Note, that Telify includes a ready to use Custom URL for Snom phones, so we have not discussed the setup for Snom. Also this way you can trigger calls via 3CX HTTP API! Unfortunately the current release does not support Thunderbird, so you cannot call numbers from Emails as yet.
