Re use analog phones with a Grandstream GXW 4024 FXS gateway

Submitted by on January 16, 2009 – 12:46 pmNo Comment

Many companies have existing analog phones that can easily be re-used with a new VoIP phone system. In some cases purchasing new IP Phones is just too expensive. In other cases, there is no ethernet cabling available on the locations that the analog phones are installed, for example in hotels or factory floors. In these situations, it pays to continue to use the analog phones.

Grandstream just launched the GXW 4024, a low cost FXS Gateway or ‘FXS channel bank‘. As the name suggests, you can connect up to 24 analog phones to this device. Its rack mountable, so you can neatly stack several of these in your server rack. Just put them next close to the old PBX, plug the existing phone cables into the gateway, and connect the gateway to the network. The analog phones can now be used with your new VoIP phone system.
