Tips for a Quality Web Conference

We’ve all attended a web conference where we have either been unable to hear or see the other participants clearly. Annoying isn’t it? Here are a few tips on how to maximise the quality of your web conference experience and minimise the annoyance of bad audio and visual.

For Good Audio:

  • Use a headset – This is the best way to ensure that no echo or feedback can be heard during your web conference.
  • Place microphone away from your speakers – In the case where you cannot use a headset, place the microphone away from your speakers to avoid any possible echo or feedback.
  • Quiet environment – When participating in a web conference make sure that you are in a quiet environment.

For Good Video:

  • Good lighting – Don’t have a light source behind you as you will appear very dark in your camera feed. Have a light source in front of you.
  • Webcam position – Position your webcam at eye level, or at the top of the screen you will be mainly looking at during the web meeting.
  • Center your preview on your mouth – Participants are interested in what you are saying not your office ceiling or your desktop.
  • Document placement – Drag documents towards the top of your screen to simulate eye contact.
  • Avoid wearing patterned clothing – Patterns can look “fuzzy” on the viewer’s screen.
  • Be mindful of your background – Choose to sit in front of a background that wont be distracting to your viewers.

And it’s as easy as that! Now you can enjoy your next web conference without that annoying feedback and fuzziness.
