Restore Backup in V14

Introduction

This guide is for those who wish to create a Backup on 3CX Phone System v12.5 or v14 without including “Recordings” as those are already configured to be outside of the 3CX default folder structure (C:\ProgramData\3CX\Data\Recordings) and to successfully restore those Backups with working Call History Links and not risking the loss of the call recordings. In this Scenario we assume the recording path was altered to ‘F:\3CXRecordings’ in the existing installation.

For general information on upgrading to V14 follow this Upgrading Guide: http://www.3cx.com/docs/installing-3cx/#h.tbfd451mjmli

Updating from 12.5 to 14.0

  • Create a Backup without Call Recordings option ticked.
  • Proceed with uninstalling 3CX Phone System V12.5.
  • Install 3CX Phone System V14 and complete the Setup.
  • Open the 3CX Management Console, login and proceed with the initial configuration pages you will be presented with.

Important Note: Do not alter the recordings path now to the f:\3CXRecordings folder, as the Restore process will delete the configured “Recordings” folder and hence will clean this path before restoring! -> The recordings will be lost! Leave it in the default directory C:\ProgramData\3CX\Instance1\Data\Recordings

  • Set the restore path and restore your backup of version 12.5.
  • Once completed navigate to "Settings" >> "General Settings" >> "Global Options" and change the path from “C:\ProgramData\3CX\Instance1\Data\Recordings” to “F:\3CXRecordings”.
  • Restart all 3CX Phone System Services.

At this point you can create a “Call Log Report” to confirm that the “Links” are correctly corresponding with the Recordings location. It will take some time to index the folder for all recordings.

Restore Backup in V14

Assuming the configuration is followed from the previous scenario and that a backup has been made recently without the Call Recordings of version 14 and the need to restore/revert back to this backup.

  • Navigate into "Settings" >> "General Settings" >> "Global Options" and change the path from “F:\3CXRecordings to “C:\ProgramData\3CX\Instance1\Data\Recordings” or move your Recordings to another temporary location as the restore process will delete the configured path’s contents.
  • Restore the relevant V14 Backup.
  • Move the Call Recordings back to “F:\3CXRecordings”.
  • Restart all 3CX Phone System Services.
