Aside from the technical issues that 3CX is going to working with us on next week, I wanted to pass on an official wish list for future versions that would make my life much much easier.
1.) Call Monitoring / Reporting:
a. One of the big things that I would like to see is active call monitoring and statistics. A call monitoring and statistics feature built into the web interface that had the ability to actively track such metrics as:
i. Long distance usage to date (reset on a custom schedule matching our telecom billing cycle) would give us the ability to actively monitor our long distance usage and make adjustments as necessary.
ii. More granular call reporting broken down into more accurate sets (incoming, outgoing, fax, auto-attendant, etc). As with anything, Business Intelligence is extremely vital. Even with the limited amount of specific information we can gain from the Log Reporter we have already been able to steer business decisions based on the BI from that source. If such a feature were integrated directly into the web console it could be tied to:
iii. An Alerts system. One of the big things that I would like to see is an email alerts system in the 3CX console. An active monitoring feature that could send an alert when a condition is met, whether it be a gateway is nearing it’s active call volume limit, the company is nearing it’s long distance usage limits, a user exceeds a certain number of minutes / long distance, an error of X importance is logged, a gateway, trunk, or voip provider becomes unregistered or unavailable, etc.
2.) Mobile Web Management
a. I’ve already found myself in situations where having a mobile web management console would have been a life saver. And while, yes, I can still get into the console from my windows mobile phone, it’s not optimized for an under-powered cell phone processor.
And other than those recommendations, I have to say that the 3CX phone system w one of the best business decisions my company has ever made. It’s truly unbelievable how much of a positive impact it has had on our company, and we haven’t even begun to use it to its true, full potential.
