3CX PBX and Cisco SPA 112 ATA problem

Postby miro » Thu Feb 09, 2012 8:19 pm

Hi,

we have cisco SPA112 ATA, we connected lexmark analog fax in Line1 and registered that extension on Line 1 with 3cx PBX. after that we tried send a fax but we get "no answer". Does anybody have some example of setup for SPA112???. important thing is that our 3cx PBX is connected to the T38 SIP trunk and fax must be sent and received exclusively via T38 (not g711).

We have also tried to lower speed to 9600 bps on Fax and turned off ECM on Fax, on ATA device we upgraded new firmware and enabled t38 and also turned off ECM in Line options but it didnt helped.

Thanks

This deals with another Cisco device, the ATA of a 3102, but should translate over...

Hi,

yesterday we tried with instruction for Linksys SPA 3102 but it didnt work, we have 3CX PBX directly connected to the SIP trunk which support T38.

Linksys SPA 3102 dont support T38 fax transmission on the Gateway Port and therefore cannot be used to connect to an analog line to receive or send faxes with 3CX PhoneSystem, link:

Please is there any other solution for this problem, thanks.

Yes, that's true. The 3CX link is about using the ATA (FXS) portion of the 3102. I can't imagine that there is some new "magical" setting on the SPA112 without it being blatantly obvious.

Did you come across this?...http://www.888voip.com/configuring-a-ci ... -with-3cx/

Yes, quick setup dont work and advance setup from link dont work, nothing is working. I am wondering is Cisco SPA 112 really support T38 , because Linksys 3102 have same features but dont work with T38.

Not having used one myself, i can't specifically say it will or won't. With some devices, the intent is there, but it takes a firmware update to get the feature to work properly. It might be that the 112 is working correctly and it's something to do with your VoIP provider.

Unless you have another ATA that does work properly, with a fax, going out on the same provider, then you can't rule out that possibility.

Cisco SPA 112 / 122 are working exactly the same way as SPA-2102 and you can even use a SPA-2102 template to provision it.
This is true also for T.38 fax. To use T.38 fax you need to have working SIP provider supporting T.38 (a must). You can connect an analog fax machine to SPA 112/122/2102/3102/8000/8800 phone ports, following the 3CX configuration guidelines for SPA devices supporting T.38 (available on 3CX blog). Make sure your SIP provider is supporting fax by receiving a fax to built-in fax server in 3CX phonesystem. It will work only with T.38. They you can try to configure SPA for T.38 and analog fax machines. SPA device must be on the same network like 3CX server.
