Hi,

Anyone tested to run this beta on the same computer as Exchange 2007SP1 with UM enabled?

Of course - there is always work to be done :)

However the symptoms you are mentioning usually occur on a server that is struggling to cope with the amount of updates needed to satisfy your demand. It also depends on other factors so I am definitely not saying that your server is not powerful enough.

Can you provide me with the following information?

1) Can you give me the specs of the machine you have 3CX installed on? Memory and CPU are the most important and whether it is a VM or not. Also OS installed would be helpful information.
2) Can you also tell me how many people are logged in - ie, how many people in your company are using the Call Assistant?
3) Also what is the speed of your Lan? 10,100 or Gbit lan
4) How many extensions do you have configured in your pbx?
5) How many simultaneous calls can you make with your current license?

thanks for the info

1. Dual core Intel Xeon 3GHz, 2GB memory, Windows Server 2008x64. This is the only application running on this box.
2. Call assistant users: 8
3. The lan is Gigabit to the phone box and the extensions are a mix of 100Mbit and 1Gbit
4. 30 extensions configured
5. 24 simultaneous calls are licensed.

Realistically, this should be a pretty light load on this box. The only thing I notice that might be a significant issue is that the server seems to be very low on memory even though I've got 2GB for the OS, Nod32 AV, and Tftpd32.

Hi

The machine is ok but as you said it is a bit low on RAM. Can you do the following: Go on the machine when it is idle and take a 2 screenshot of the task manager
a) Processes page ordered by name (make sure you expand the column so I see the memory and
b) Performance tabs.

Thanks

I increased the server memory to 8GB and restarted the system. Here are the results.

Process tab under typical load:

Performance tab under typical load:

Unusual high load which stopped before I could get the process tab. I should note that the 3CX assistant failed to log in at this point and timed out. It appears to be pretty common for the assistant to just relogin randomly for no apparent reason. Perhaps related to the reason that the load went high and the login timed out?

One item of note is that I have verbose logging on to assist in debug with some other issues we have been having with incoming calls to our sip trunk.

OK, this is truly weird. When I have Eset Nod32 antivirus enabled, the assist console behaves much worse than when it is disabled. However, even when it is disabled, the results are unsatisfactory. For example, if I attempt to page 20 of my extensions the results are slow. After the extensions all pick up, they appear with the page group in the assist console several seconds after I initiate the page. Once I've hung up, the calls disappear from the assistant console after several seconds.

If Nod32 is enabled, the response is much slower and the page indication under each extension appears slowly and one at a time instead of all at once delayed by several seconds. They also disappear slowly and one at a time over several 10s of seconds.

What is the username and password for the new call reporter?

I tried the user and pass used to log into the management console and also logsreader, phoneystem?

Nothing seems to work

Is there a default username and password?

When you enable Nod 32 you are even eating up more of the CPU 's processing power. leaving absolutely nothing for 3CX to work. So that is understandable.
You do not have enough Ram to perform your demands.

But I think you pasted the wrong screenshot - The screenshot in the below post is showing that you have 8 GB of Ram. Earlier you said that you have 2GB. Am I correct? 2GB of Ram is low for server 2008.

Eagle1 - there is a slight problem related to permissions in that build. A file reports.dsn is missing.

There is a post on the forums with the file attached that fixes this. Search for it. or wait for the next release - this will have this problem fixed.

I updated the server to 8GB of RAM yesterday afternoon in the hopes that it would help the 3CX assistant performance. As far as I can tell based on further research:

1. Updating the RAM did not help performance
2. There is no reason for a simple antivirus client to bring a dual-core 3GHz Xeon server to its knees when the only thing of significance it is running is 3CX.
3. I have, however, turned off the http traffic inspection of the antivirus program and that seemed to help some.
4. Even when there is not a high load on the server, the client will sometimes lose connection and timeout while trying to log back in.
5. Refreshes are still exceedingly slow with and without NOD32 running.

I hope this random collection of facts helps in some way. :)

The CPU definitely has enough now to perform. Before it did not have. If you look at the screenshot, when Idle it occupies 1.54 GB. This means that it used to take 1.54 before as well out of the 2GB you had available. Hadn't you upgraded the machine, you were not leaving enough memory for applications because on idle windows was already occupying 3 quarters of the memory. Leaving too little spare.

Now you are ok - but you have to see some improvement. Can you disable the antivirus completely just as a test? Or uninstall it? No antivirus is simple today. Especially a version of nod for server os.

Anyway - there is going to be a new version released - It will be available later on today.

The clients will need to be replaced and the server reinstalled. Let us know on the progress you make.
