Dear 3CX Community:
My company has a customer that requires a SIP trunk to be configured to another PBX so that extension-to-extension dialing and long distance hop-off can work between the two systems. With 3CX there appears to be two options:
1. A Generic SIP Trunk (available as an option under VoIP Provider list)
2. A Bridged connection.
The problem that we are having is that the 3CX Generic SIP Trunk requires an external telephone number and authentication ID & password (there is none assigned by the 2nd PBX). In addition, it appears that on the 3CX side, the Trunk must be connected to an extension, queue, ring group, or digital receptionist. We also have the option to end the call.
The 3CX Bridge is similar in that it doesn't require an external telephone number but does require termination on an extension, queue, ring group, etc. or end the call.
Is there a way to create a SIP trunk or bridge between the two systems that serves as an outbound rules route option only without the need to terminaate on an extension? Is ending the call a good option?
We are open to other ideas and configuration options and welcome your help!
Thanks,
Rob
