3CXPhone and Internal Ext-to-Ext Audio Problem?

Postby rand14 » Sun May 02, 2010 1:57 am

Hi -

I have been experimenting 3CX using a fresh install (version 8) and the 3CX softphone on two separate computers and an iPhone w/ a sip client. I have been unable to get any audio (caller cannot hear callie and callie cannot hear caller) unless I check the "PBX Delivers Audio" option in the capabilities on the extention config screen (Ext | Edit | Other tab). Is this normal? It seems like the softphones should be able to handle the audio directly between them and not through the server.

3CX softphones and iPhone SIP register OK with the server and ring the other extension OK. When the call is answered, there is only silence - not even one way audio.

I have done all testing on the LAN (same subnet, no vlans, routers, etc).
No host firewalls on the server or either softphone client
If a call is sent to voicemail, the system prompts are heard fine, voice message delivers OK.

Below is the log snippet from setup and tear down. Again, I do not see anything out of place. Is there additional logging that can be turned on at the 3CXsoftphone?

Your description says that
XXX.XXX.XXX.29
and
XXX.XXX.XXX.17
cannot send packets directly to each other but can send it to XXX.XXX.XXX.84 (PBX host).
Could you please add log for the call with "PBX delivers audio=on" (where audio works fine)?

Kindly place all server (or any other) logs in code and /code tags. ("Code" button is available in toolbar)

Thanks
Stepan

Below is a snippet with the PBX delivers audio option turned on for ext 12. Audio worked fine for this call. What in the log above calls out that stations xxx.17 and xxx.29 cannot talk with each other?

sent a PM, guess I didn't understand what you were after. I agree that this is strange. I have just verified that host firewalls are turned off on each computer running the 3CX softphone. No audio if the PBX delivers audio feature is disabled for the extention....However, I did discover I get audio if I use the wired LAN vs the wireless side. I guess there is something there at the router/access point. Calls with both clients on WiFi are not getting audio, but I get at least one way (don't have enough mics to test two way) if one client is on the wired LAN. I post back anything I discover...

You have added significant part of information. You have wire+wireless network, correct?
Some routers (by default) don't allow direct connection between hosts connected through Wi-Fi.
Probably you have exact this situation.
PBX host (connected to wire) can send traffic to both hosts, but they cannot send anything to each other.

Stepan! May be in the wi-fi access point are switch on user`s isolation function? If it is true they need simply turn off this function and see gateway and subnet mask for each pc.
