I think what I am after is an 3CX windows client to support g729, it is a bit confusing to have the "demo" version of 3cx server with g729 enabled, but they do not supply a client that support g729 codec!

or did I missed something??

G.729 codec is licensed and paid, so you can not get it for free.
In the commercial editions of 3CX Phone System it is included (number of G.729 licenses equals half of number of SC licenses).
That's why you don't have it with 3CX softphone, which is free. Try using some of the Counterpath's softphones (paid), which support G.729 if you really need it. 3CX is providing free alternative - the GSM codec for bandwidth sensitive connections.
