Automatically change status (Available / Away)

Postby Tugi2o » Thu Aug 27, 2009 12:41 pm

Hello,

at our company there are a lot of people who don't set always the status manually (available / away).
so it would be much more better, if the status would change automatically to away when:

- user locks windows
- screensaver is active

i think this is a meaningful improvement...

back

I've checked a little to see what these features implies (from development point of view) and seems there is no problems.
Since our phone allows four online states - perhaps it would be a better idea not to impose user's the "away" status, but to let it to choose, for each of two mentioned situations, between "away" and "auto-voicemail". We'll see.

That sounds very good.

Wil this be integrated in the Assistant or in the Voip Phone?

Hi
In 3CXPhone is already integrated - check the Preferences dialog.

Is there a chance that it will be included in the assistant?
We don't use the Voip Phone but regular desk phones. But now people often forget to set there status when they leave and Queues keep rinning.

You sure it's working?
I tried it with my 3CX Phone and verifying with the assistant at another PC and it doesn't show my extension as Away (the behavior I set when I lock my machine).

Hi

This is a common confusion: extension and devices, and their corresponding available/DND status - and 3CXphone is a device, and what you see in Assistant/My Phone/PBX is EXTENSION's status.

Let me explain: on an extension, say 101, you can have connected many devices - phones, say one in the livingroom, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom. You may set the bedroom's one to be DND, so when AVAILABLE extension 101 is called, this device only will be DND. If you have all three devices as AVAILABLE, but extension 101 is marked as AWAY, none of its devices will rang (in fact, they aren't even reached by the incoming call).

Hope I explained ok

I understand your explanation, but it would be very useful if there was an option for the softphone to set the PBX extension status.
