Call queue polling strategies

Postby xor@redlink.de » Fri Feb 26, 2010 3:02 pm

Currently there's only prioritized hunt, hunt random start and ring all available.
We'd like to have some kind of escalation strategy so first only the first phone in the members list rings, then an additional another one and so on until all phones ring. This should be very easy to add as an additional option.
This would also be cool for ring groups.

So essentially

"Ring 100" for 10 seconds then ring "100 through 105" for 10 seconds then "Ring All". (Or whatever your choice, I just want to make sure I understand your idea of escalation). Is that right?

A Work around that would do this now is to make a Ring group with the top level people, and if no one answers in X amount of time it goes to group 2 with more members, and so on.

Yep, that's right. The problem with the workaround (we did that for a while before we switched to queues) is that it doesn't work for queues and everytime you switch to a new ring group all calls to the agents are disconnected and then reconnected which causes a lot of "trash" in the call history.
