Re: Dial by Name

kustura wrote:This is a MUST HAVE feature, I can't believe it was not designed along with DA. Digital Assistant is almost useless without it. When callers want to reach a specific person in the company but don't know the person's extension (which most callers don't), they are all pressing 0 to go to a live receptionist. To completely eliminate the need for a live receptionist you MUST have a dial by name directory. Please tell me it is in version 4!! :D

Not having a live receptionist available is one of the single biggest mistakes any company can make. It causes high degrees of customer frustration and drives them away in droves. Even if the receptionist is also performing other tasks, having him or her available for when circumstances that were not foreseen and programmed into the PBX occur smoothes out a lot of situations that could lead to lost business if an already frustrated client becomes trapped in an automated maze of prompts with no way to reach a real, thinking human being, even as a last resort.

Of course, if your company has no need of clients, like some of the vendors and service agents that my company has dropped for this very reason, then by all means trap them in a maze full of dead ends so you can get back to playing Minesweeper, Solitaire or Party Poker.

The new dial by name directory is SWEET. I have a few suggestions:
- Prompt says "Please enter user name", it would be much more user friendly if it said "Please enter first three letters of user's last name" as that is what it is using to make a match. Maybe an ability to record a custom prompt would be nice instead.
- There should be an option to match by first or last name somewhere, maybe a setting in 3CX interface. First and Last names are typed in extension settnigs, why not have this option.

Thanks,
Tom

AldoLinares,

You have to record your name in the voicemail for every extension that you want to make available for the dial by name directory. If you go into VM, dial 9, then 5 to record your name.

Is there any way to change the prompts for this system to make them more intuitive?

Are the default sound files kept anywhere accessible?

All of the prompts are kept in C:\ProgramData\3CX\Data\Ivr\Prompts\Sets\%PROMPTSETID% (May be diff for XP) you will need to determine the code for your prompt set. You can find out in the Advanced-Custom parameters..look for ACPRMSET. The file you want to tweak is UserName.wav if I am correct. The actual prompt concatonates "Please Enter" and "Username" prompts for the full message. Of course backup before changing and testing.

I would like to see the Dial by name prompt seperated from the "Please Enter" prompt, or change the "Username" prompt to "Please enter the first three letters of the persons last name, for Q press...." The problem is when you record over the Username wave file, the vocals do not match from "Please Enter" and the rest of your prompt. Sounds a bit silly.

Otherwise, great product so far!!!

I second this. Our owner asked me to change the prompt, but currently there is no way to do that...
