Dial By Name Company Directory

Postby dekatech » Thu May 31, 2007 4:15 pm

Would be a nice feature to include for IVR, e.g. Press 8 for our dial by name company directory.

Can't you use Exchange for that?

What does this actually mean? an address book type config in 3cx?

Dial by name would be a great feature. I would like to see it available in an upcomng version. My current employer has it within their phone system. I use it often especially while on the road.

At the attendant prompt, you hear welcome.... to dial by name press 1, then at the next prompt you hear, please type in the first 3 letters of the person. Type in the letters. Then it read off peoples names. Press 1 for Tom James, press 2 for Tom Johns, ect.... Its a great feature if people don't know your extension.

Yes, we discussed this feature and found it useful. It's scheduled for implementation. (But don't ask me 'When?' :) )

This is really needed. My boss wont let me implement paid version until it has it.

They also want transfer to another extention or operator at voicemail greeting without having to redial. Sucks when you need to talk to someone and get voicemail greeting and are trapped.

Also, address book on call assistant so you enter a name and number and can quickly doubleclick to call that number.

Kind of sucks, they wont go for it now, I really like it.

Dial by Name

Postby kustura » Fri Nov 02, 2007 10:37 pm

This is a MUST HAVE feature, I can't believe it was not designed along with DA. Digital Assistant is almost useless without it. When callers want to reach a specific person in the company but don't know the person's extension (which most callers don't), they are all pressing 0 to go to a live receptionist. To completely eliminate the need for a live receptionist you MUST have a dial by name directory. Please tell me it is in version 4!! :D

Unfortunately this is not in version 4. I am not aware when this will be implemented. As archie already said, it has be discussed and we are considering it for the future.

Could you please enumerate systems where it is implemented?

Thanks

I've made a post elsewhere on the forum about other systems that I have researched before settling on 3CX, I can't remember all names, but Asterisk SBE and Fonality come to mind right now.

Dial by name is something we are looking into as we speak. Keep your fingers crossed and you might get your wish sooner than you think...
