Functionality when ringing an unregistered phone extension

Postby Pentangle » Fri Dec 14, 2007 11:58 pm

Hi,

Currently, if you set the action on an unregistered extension to send the call to voicemail it gets immediately forwarded there.

This would lead a caller to think that the person is actually at their desk but sending the call to voicemail (which could be interpreted as rude).

Is there any way of having the action on an unregistered phone to be to send x seconds of ringing tone to the caller and then send it to voicemail? (where x seconds is the number of seconds set for an unanswered call)

Cheers,
Mike.

I dont beleive this is possible. You can save the ringing tone thoug on the message that you hear... lol(Its a workaround, odd one, but a workaround)

i agree with "LOL"

better then saving the tone to the voicemail promt you put in the promt that the caller was directed to voicemail because the person he called is not in Office or is already with a other caller."

Either way, it's not exactly "professional" to do either workaround in my opinion.

I think if you keep appropriate recording like person's phone is switched off please leave a message. It seems we have something similar message from mobile phone company when our mobile phone is switched off then I think people are not geeting interpreted as rude asking them to leave a message.
