Multi-homed 3CX and Contact/SDP IP addresses

Postby Kris2k » Wed Feb 10, 2010 3:11 pm

Hi all,

I ran into a snag while integrating my 3CX with my Telco Provider who's colocating my setup.

The issue boils-down to the Network/Settings/Stun-server tab section of the configuration, with the following options:
- Turn Off stun Server = True
- Public IP to specify in Contact and SDP
- Network card Interface

Basically, if I configure the Public IP and NIC to the private network receiving my calls from my SIP Trunk, everything work beautifully, however, my Phones cease to work, since they are transiting over the Internet. When I put back the Public IP and NIC to the Public Interface, my Phones work, but I am unable to use my trunk provider.

It would be great to have fine-control over Interface/Contact&SDP on a per-Peer basis for the VOIP Providers. The latitude is already there with the SIP register, however, in my SIP context, calls are done based on a mutual IP and unauthenticated trust. Therefore, even though I am specifying the desired IP to which I want the traffic to tansit to, its still going to the system-wide setting.

I understand that this kind of scenario is counter-intuitive to the SIP principle of Gateways & Call Managers, since in this case, its literally forcing 3CX to be in the media path, and sometimes theses are the sacrifices we have to make for low-latency voip when embedded within the carrier.

Cheers

ps: Using 8.0.10824
