Outgoing Caller ID changeability

I use Nexvortex.com and they let you change the caller ID for outgoing calls via the web.
It would be nice if the3CX VOIP Phone had a "change outgoing caller ID for next call" feature.

This is potentially a very bad idea. Once employees knew about that they would start calling all their friends cell phones that use caller ID authentication. This is why its only settable at the extension level by an administrator, the abuse factor is very very high.

That would be the COOLEST part man! :mrgreen:
I have over 100 DIDs so just to have a selection of what outbound number I show up as would be fine.

And before you get your panties all bunched up :P :shock: , yes, I know most people do not have 100 DIDs, even if they just had 2, it would be worth it... It just an opinion man :mrgreen: :P I have had many clients not answer the phone because they did not recognize the number...

If you have had clients not answer because they didnt recognize the phone number than that goes completely against wanting to be able to change your outbound number when calling them. The main issue is liability for a company. If I allow anyone to change their outbound caller ID and the secretary breaks up with her boyfriend and calls his cell phone and uses his cell phone number of caller ID, should could easily jump right into his voicemail, change it to some horrible message, and change the password so he can't change it back. Since you, as the company, gave her the tool and means to do that, you could be held legally responsible for her actions.

I know, I updated my idea to only including the DIDs from the 3CX phone system. This way the employees could not spoof any caller ID, just the ones assigned to them.

Isn't the general idea of having a DID, and sending that DID, is that an individual can be called back directly based on his (or her) DID being sent out to the called Party? It would be either that or have a "main" callback number show up so that any returned call(s) would go to a receptionist (automated or otherwise).
I would think, that any to randomization (from your block of your DIDs or not) of the outgoing number would be viewed by most people as an attempt to get around the called parties ability to screen or outright block the call if desired. The word Spoofing does comes to mind and for the called party, that's not a good thing.

It seems as administrators we can only change the outgoing "name display" and not the "number display" on a per extension basis when going out on a voip call (and I'm assuming a PRI if you have one).

Is there a way to configure the outgoing number display on a per extension basis (for administrators, I don't believe users should have access to this)?

My customers have several DIDs representing different companies. As such the name display feature is perfect as it is but number dislay changing is even more important because the last thing customers want is to have a different company called back based on the call id. This way we can assign the phones outgoing number display representing their incoming did.

The only way around this for now (ugly) is to provision the main voip line phone number as a generic DID for all companies on the phone system and that way when calls go back to that number it can have a generic digital receptionist.

Please let me know if it is possible with v8 to set outgoing number display.
