The basics

Postby 0x00 » Wed Dec 28, 2011 5:56 pm

Right, I've installed 3CX in a new environment. All SIP providers are registered and all internal soft/hard phones work. I can make incoming & outgoing calls no problem.

I can't however get external soft phones to work. I can see from the debug log it says it's connected, then ended by the server.

Do I have to open & forward 9000 > 9049 to get this working? I thought the 3CX Tunnel would negate the need for this.

Also, apart from the Event and System logs, is there a real time log I can see each connection coming in as?

All help gratefully received!

I have to assume that you are running the tunnel option on the remote 3CX phones, if so then only port 5090 is used. What does the 3CX log show for a call attempt?

Hi there, thanks for the help.

This is what I see on the 3CX Soft phone debug view. Using an online port scanner I can see that 5060 and 5090 show as open.

EDIT: Is there a Tunnel log server side I can view?

Tunnel is attempting to connect remote tunnel 123456 [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5090]

Tunnel has been disconnected by remote end

There is a log in the 3CX PBX, that is the one you should be looking at as it may give a clue as to why the registration attempt is being dropped. If there is nothing in there, then the requests are not getting past your router.

I assume that you set up the Tunnel password.

Is that the Server Activity Log in 3CX admin, above the Server Event Log? Or do I need to be looking somewhere else?

OK, feel rather stupid, but I got there thats the main thing.

I noticed the "Disalow use of extension outside the LAN".

Putting the logging mode to verbose enabled me to see that WAN requests were blocked, quick google and a thread on here put me in the right direction.

Many thanks for you help lee

For registering external extensions via 3CX tunnel you DON'T need to enable outside of LAN registrations in extension settings (as well as if you are using VPN / VLAN). In your case this most probably means you are not configuring correctly remote extensions / tunnel.
