Using skype to call a geographic landline number

Postby simonhc » Fri Dec 23, 2011 9:59 am

I currently use 3cx with the skype gateway to make and receive calls toand from skype users. I would like to configure the 3cx system to now route calls to geographic landline numbers through skype to take advantage of cheaper call rates.

I have skype credit available on my skype account but when I try and dial a number I get the error message "Temporarily unavailable"

The server log is as follows:

Have you tried using your Skype account, on a different device, to call a landline number? If so, does that work?

Is the number format, you are sending them, correct? You may need to send a plus sign and the county code in place of the zero.

You have to remember that you are dealing with an international company, not a local provider.

Hi Leejor,

I have tried skype independently of 3cx and it dials as expected.
Good idea about the dialing code, I hadn't thought of that!

Okay,

I have now fully tested skype independantly of 3cx and it dials landlines as expected. Unfortunately as soon as I try and route the calls through 3cx i get the "Temporarily unavailable message"

I have an out bound rule setup to direct all outgoing calls through skype, it doesn't strip and digits in the process. It just gives me the error instantly.
I know skype can dial out to lindlines so I must have missed something with 3cx... Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

When you dial (and it works) from another device, what format are you sending? Compare that to what 3CX is sending out. Do they match? If not, then your outbound rules are not set-up properly.

If you can't spot an error, post the 3CX log of a call, and the outbound rule tat you are using.

I don't dial Skype calls out to "real" numbers, but I assume that the digits must be in an international format, and. perhaps, preceded by a "+", are they not?
