Provisioning a Grandstream GXP2110, GXP2120, GXP2100, GXP1450 for 3CX Phone System

This guide has been tested for Grandstream Executive phones with the firmware version 1.0.1.108. Be aware that different firmware revisions may have different web interface formats and functionality. This guide is applicable to the following Grandstream phone models: GXP2110, GXP2120, GXP2100, and GXP1450.

Important:

  • Older firmware versions are not supported and do not contain plug and play functionality therefore will not show up in the 3CX Phones node. If you need to upgrade the firmware, go to Grandstream  Support and download the latest firmware for the appropriate model you have.
  • 3CX Phone System Version 10 is required.

Grandstream Plug and Play Provisioning with 3CX Phone System

Step 1: Verify Firmware Installed on your Phone.

Verify the firmware currently installed on the phone as older firmwares will not have the plug and play feature. To do this power up the phone and press Menu > Status > Prog. If the Program value is lower than 1.0.1.66, go to the Grandstream support website, download the latest firmware for your phone and upgrade it.

Step 2: Plug Phone into the Network

Plug your Grandstream phone into your LAN. (The phone must be on the same LAN as that of 3CX Phone System IP PBX)

Step 3: Approve Phone and Assign an Extension

3CX management Console Adding Extensions

Now you need to approve the IP Phone registration and assign an extension. To do this:

  1. In the 3CX Management Console, go the "Phones node".
  2. The phone you just plugged in will appear at the top of the list in bold.
  3. Now right click on the IP Phone and select from 2 available options:
    • "Add Extension" - this will create a new extension.
    • "Assign to existing extension" - this will assign an existing extension.
  4. Now Assign or Create an extension and click 'OK'.
  5. You will be taken to the "Edit Extension" settings page.
  6. You can now optionally configure BLF keys or speed dials. For information, see Step 4 below.
  7. Click OK. 3CX Phone System will send a provisioning link to the phone. The phone will reboot and apply the configuration. The phone will be ready for use after that.

Step 4: Optional - Configure BLF Function Keys

Plug and Play provisioning also allows administrators to provision different types of BLF settings like extension monitoring, speed dialing, Queue status, profile status and shard parking. Make the changes from the phone provisioning tab and press ‘apply’, then ‘ok’, to generate the configuration file.

3CX Management Console BLF Settings

  1. In the Edit Extension page, navigate to the 'Phone Provisioning' tab.
  2. Select codec priority and phone LCD display language.
  3. Configure function keys for BLF, Shared Parking and various types of Speed Dials.
  4. Click 'OK'. The phone will reboot and provision automatically.

Congratulations! You have configured a new Grandstream Executive phone using the 3CX Plug and Play feature.
