How to manually insert the provision URL in a Linksys
NOTE: You can set your IP phones to retrieve the provisioning URL automatically via DHCP 'option 66'. This is recommended for larger networks. For more information, see the DHCP option 66 configuration guide
After you have created the extension in 3CX Phone System, and entered the MAC address of the phone as well as specified the model, you need to configure the phone to retrieve the configuration from the 3CX Phone System HTTP server:
- If the phone was used before, press the “Setup Button” and navigate to “Factory Reset”, to reset phone to factory default settings. You can ignore this step if its a new phone.
- On booting up, the phone will obtain an IP address provided you have a DHCP server installed on your network. To find the IP, press “Setup button”
button on the phone and navigate to “Network” and “Current IP”.
- Assuming that the phone set’s IP is 10.172.0.51, use a web browser to access the phone set’s configuration, using this URL: http://10.172.0.51
- In the top right-hand side, click on “Admin Login” and on “advanced”. Once option is available, click on the “Provisioning” page.
- In the “Provisioning” page “Profile Rule” option, input http://10.172.0.116/management/provisioning/$MA.xml where in this example, 10.172.0.116 is the IP of the IP PBX web interface and $MA is replaced from the phone automatically to the phone set’s MAC address when it requests the provisioning template.
If using Cassini or Apache (v6), the URL is http://10.172.0.116:5481/provisioning/$MA.xml.
-
Save the settings by clicking on “Submit All Changes” at the bottom of the page.
