How does 3CX know its an external extension?
3CX Phone System v5 can now automatically detect that an extension is external. In version 3, the user had to configure the extension as external.
V5 now detects this automatically by comparing the IP of the phone to the local network. If its a public IP, or indeed an IP on a different subnet, then the extension is considered external. The connection will then be made in either 'Proxy mode' or 'Transcoding mode' depending on extension capabilities.
