What is the cause of Installer error 2738, when installing 3CX?

This error is related to an installer call of a VB Script which cannot be executed. For a VB Script to be able to run the operating system required the file ‘vbscript.dll’ to be registered.

This file is normally registered on Windows operating systems, however it is possible for antivirus software and other software to un-register this.

The resolution to this is as follows:

  1. Access the Command Prompt.
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32 (Windows default).
  3. Type ‘regsvr32 vbscript.dll’.

Once you receive the message that the DLL file has been successfully registered you may proceed to install 3CX Phone System.
