3CX SIP/RTP Tunneling Service supported and unsupported modes
The 3CX Tunnel is used to connect multiple 3CX PBX’s together or can accept multiple VoIP Client Tunnel Connections.
The following is a list of supported modes
Scenario 1 – One PBX Master to one or many PBX Slaves
PBX A is set as a Master Tunnel Connection. This will receive registration requests. PBX B connects to PBX A in Slave Tunnel Mode. PBX C can also connect to PBX A in Slave Tunnel mode.
Scenario 2 – One PBX Master to one or many VoIP Clients
PBX A is set as a Master Tunnel Connection. One or many VoIP Client instances from different networks / public IP addresses can connect to PBX A using 3CX Tunnel.
The following is a list of unsupported modes
Scenario 1 - PBX A is a Master to PBX B and a Slave to PBX C.
A single 3CX IP PBX can not be a master (receive registration requests) and slave to another 3CX PBX (Send registration requests using tunnel) at the same time. This configuration is not supported at the moment.
Scenario 2 - One Slave PBX connected to more than one master PBX
Having one slave 3CX Phone System connected to two separate master PBX’s simultaneously, may result in continuous tunnel disconnections. This feature will be implemented in the near future.
