Introduction

When dealing with a customer, or even a potential customer, face-to-face communication is more powerful than any other form of contact. Do not let distance get in the way of your business. With the 3CX client for Windows, you can easily start a video call on the spot between two or more parties as long as they have a video capable IP Phone or are using the 3CX Windows client.

Turning on video while in a call

While in a call with someone who has a camera and a microphone, or a video capable IP Phone:

  1. Click the “Video”  button.
  2. The Video window will appear and your call will now include video. During the video session you will be able to share your screen, change the settings or even take a photo.

Can you do video chat from Android/iOS phones?

@Brent, thanks for the question. Android allows you to make and receive WebRTC video calls using the Google Chrome browser. iOS is not WebRTC compatible. Neither of the 3CXPhones clients (Android and iOS) can be used for video calls as yet, this is something that is in development and may be available in the next release.. I Hope this answers your question, Thanks.

Any specifics on when video on the Android and iOS softphone client might be released? We recently installed 3CX and could really use this functionality.

@Glenn, Video calling is not available from 3CXPhone mobile clients. We don’t have any further information on this I’m afraid. Although for the iOS there is a 3CX WebMeeting client that you can download and use to take part in webmeetings.

Using the 3CXPhone for Windows, does it have to in CTI mode or phone mode? I have 2 extensions with Webcam and Microphone installed and configured; however, either extension sees the “Video” button or option.

@Johny, thanks for the question. The 3CXPhone for Windows has to be in Softphone mode for it to accept video. Also make sure that video is enabled from 3CXPhone ‘settings’ > ‘video options’.
