WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communications) allows others to communicate with you, for free, using an open standards browser such as Chrome or Firefox, without the need for additional plugin installation. This feature is enabled by your administrator who will assign a dedicated URL for your extension.

Share your WebRTC call link from within the client

  1. From the client dial pad, click the “Chat”  button.
  2. Select the contact or the extension of the recipient and compose a new message.


  1. From within the dialog box press the Send WebRTC call link  button and your link will be sent.

  1. When your contact clicks on the link a tab will open in their browser. By clicking on the Press to Call Now button they will place a call to your Web DID.

Share your WebRTC call link to external parties (only for Windows)

This option is for recipients that do not have a 3CX client. They will be able to call you on your Web DID through their browser with their headset.

  1. Go to Settings > “Call Forwarding > WebRTC call link. If WebRTC is not assigned to your extension then you will not be able to see this option.
  2. Send your WebRTC call link to the external party.

    Interesting image of the 3CX softphone. I have just purchased Pro and there is no WebRTC image on the dial page.

    I am also having an issue where although the WebRTC page opens when I send someone a link, when they click I get “Call Failed”

    • @Reef – if you are getting call failed then you have a DNS issue or you are trying to use Webrtc in the local Lan.
      webrtc click to call is not configured to be used in the LAN. Should be used from outside the LAN.

    I am also facing the same issue as below , but a little different. I have configured Webrtc on my website as a link , when i click the link it goes to the Webrtc Gateway and then shows are connection refused . I have opened all ports confirmed by the firewall checker.

      @Steven, thanks for the question. Which version of 3CX Phone system are you using? If v14 SP1 please update to SP2 which fixes issues with WebRTC access from Google chrome. If using V12.5 then to fix this issue you will need to upgrade to v14 SP2. Also access to WebRTC links are not possible from the same network that 3CX Phone system is installed.
