Configuring Patton Smart Node - 4112 / 4114 VOIP Gateway for 3CX Phone System
IMPORTANT This guide has been tested with the R3.21 (2007-11-08) and R4.2. The guide and template may not work for earlier or later versions of the firmware!
Configuration is a 2 step process. First you configure 3CX Phone System for use with the Patton. 3CX Phone System will then output a configuration file for you to upload to the Patton device.
Step 1: Configuring 3CX Phone System to work for use with the Patton Smartnode 4114 or 4112
- In the 3CX Management Console, click on the “Add PSTN” link in the left-hand side.
- Assign a name to this device; e.g. “SN4112” or “SN4114”.
- Select the Radio button labelled “Patton SN-4112” or “Patton SN-4114”. Click the “Next >” button.
- The “VoIP Gateway Configuration” page will require you to insert the IP Address of the device (in this example 10.172.0.201), the port number (default is 5060), and the Number of ports (default is 2 for the SN-4112, default is 4 for the SN-4114). Please note that for this procedure to be successful, the number of ports allocated must be the default (2 for SN-4112, 4 for SN-4114). Click the “Next >” button.
- The “Add VoIP Lines: Create Lines” page will appear and the necessary fields will be pre-populated with suggested values. You may customise these values for your requirements, even though the default values suggested should work well. In particular, the “Identification” field may be set to the number of the line provided by the telephone company for that line. Click on the “Next >” button.
- The “Create Outbound Rule” page will allow you to quickly create a rule with which to deliver calls through this device. Specify a prefix for the rule to identify outbound calls. Click on the “Finish” button when ready, or click on the “Skip” button if you do not wish to create an outbound rule for this device at this stage.
- The “Gateway Created” summary page will list the settings you will require to apply to the device. However there is also the option to generate a custom configuration file which can be uploaded to the device, saving time and much effort to configure the device correctly. Click the “Generate config file” button.
Step 2: Connect the SmartNode to the network and upload the Configuration file
The next step is to connect the Smartnode to the network and upload the 3CX Phone System generated configuration file. Please see this FAQ how to do this. How do I Connect A SmartNode to the Network and import the configuration?
