APOEL FC scores big in switch to 3CX’s UC solution
Founded in 1926, APOEL FC Football Club has been adding trophies to its collection ever since, with 27 championships under its belt. The club, centered in Nicosia, has some of the best players found in Cyprus. As well as one of the biggest teams in the Cypriot league, the team has become a familiar sight in the UEFA Champions league, bringing an international focus to the small island’s footballing talent. With a mobile team and staff that were also on the road a lot, the board wanted to find a solution to its ailing phone systems and give greater mobility to its team.
3CX Enables APOEL to be a Team Off the Pitch Too
The old system from VoiceTel helped APOEL FC get to where it was, but there were a number of factors that ended up holding the company back from having the truly collaborative team that they needed. For a team of 35 employees, APOEL FC was spending upwards of €200 per month on the original phone system, mostly for maintenance. The main feature they were missing out on was the ability to make video calls. With people moving around Cyprus during the season it wasn’t possible to conduct meetings face to face and this was causing staff to lose operational capabilities. Nektarios Petevinos, Head of Communications for APOEL FC, was tasked with finding a new solution that would meet the modern needs of this Cypriot staple.
Simple, Affordable, Feature-rich Communications
Coming across 3CX, Nektarios found the features that the team needed could all be provided in one simple and straightforward solution. Unlike 3CX’s competitors, it was an easy sell on our UC feature set as well as the cost savings compared to our closest competitors. Video conferencing in a user friendly interface meant that the whole team could use 3CX, once deployed, without any need for specific training. With the deployment of 3CX, APOEL FC chose to invest in a new on-premise server, which was already needed, however, the way 3CX has been developed meant that there was no need for any upgrades to their internet connection.
