Hi, I have some GXP1620 phones set up using the Grandstream templates I posted here: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/grandstream-gxp-1620-1625-provisioning-templates.50759/
(This is actually all of GS's templates, not just 1620), and I have been experiencing the ext. ringing itself the same as described here: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/grandstream-gxp1620.54190/

The solution provided says to use the default template that has the CSTA parameter enabled. My question is: shouldn't I be able to enable that parameter in the template I am currently using? If so, what exactly is its syntax, and should it be put in a particular section in the XML file?

Hello @Bret Gordon

My advice would be to use the default 3CX provided template to provision your phones. This will ensure that you are supported and the templates will automatically be updated with any fixes or new functionality. If this is for some reason is not an option then i would recommend creating a custom template based on the 3CX default template by following this document: https://www.3cx.com/docs/custom-ip-phone-templates/
As mentioned in the last paragraph of the document however there is no support for custom documents.

Thank you. I've re-provisioned it to the "grandstream.ph.xml" default template, and it seems to be working well so far. I noticed that there was a template update for grandstream and installed that, as well.

Also, I have upgraded the firmware to 1.0.4.106 and verified that it is not using a custom template. It, however, still reports as "not supported" in the phones section and on the dashboard. Perhaps a reboot will fix that, but I don't really care as long as the phone works as expected.

I will give it a couple of days to make sure that it isn't still ringing itself before deploying it. Thank you for including OOB support for this el-cheapo model. :)

Glad to see it is working so far. The phone shows as not supported as the firmware you are using is higher than the tested and supported one that we use. You can always see and download the supported firmware for your phones from here: https://www.3cx.com/support/phone-firmwares/

Thanks, it's still working just fine. You can mark this thread as "solved".
