Solved Disabling Yealink T46G voicemail beep

I have Yealink T46G phones & ever since upgrading to v15.5, they've started beeping on a regular basis, which is pretty annoying. I was able to pin it down to the Voice Mail Tone being enabled (Phone UI > Features > General Information). If I disable this feature, then the beeping stops, but the problem now is that if a phone gets rebooted, it flips back to its default (ie. Enabled), so I have to disable them manually all over again.

I tried using the suggestions in this post to create a custom template, but neither "voice.tone.stutter = 0" nor "voice.tone.message = 0" seems to make any difference.

It would be fantastic if the built-in template were updated to turn off this "feature" (it is incredibly irritating with an open room of phones), but failing that, what is the correct setting to disable this in a custom template?

So first of all you are going to want to put this in the ideas section as far as the request to have it in the provisioning tab. As far as the custom template not working you more than likely ddidn't create the custom template properly as it is very particular when it comes to yealink. I'd verify the changes are actual present in the provisioned config file by trying a manual download of the config via http://3cxinstance:port/randomstring/macaddress.cfg (or https if remote to the pbx).

I figured out the problem, which was that I was looking for the wrong setting. The correct setting is "features.voice_mail_tone_enable = 0", and once I created a new template with that setting & reprovisioned my phones, that fixed the problem (& best, the fix appears to be durable).

Hi ten35tech,
I just checked my old backups and must say that the "features.voice_mail_tone_enable = 1" (enable tone notification) is there seance V12 of 3CX PBX. This means that this feature was enabled staring from, at least, September of 2013 (sorry, I haven't older backups to check there - this my first installed version of 3CX).
So, this is not something new and this part of provisioning template wasn't changed during the last 5 years.

I agree with cobaltit and we can add this to ideas and ask 3CX to make it provisional, but please do not call "annoying" the feature which is very useful for the people with some disability. Some of my customers that have problems with vision like this feature a lot.
 
I understand that it can be very useful for accessibility, but believe me, when you have an open floorplan office with a significant number of phones beeping on a very regular (but not the same) interval, it is indeed pretty annoying (as evidenced by the complaints until I fixed it).

As for why it only recently started being a problem, I can't say. Perhaps it was something to do with a firmware upgrade that was somewhat coincidental with the upgrade to v15.5.

All posts are reviewed by their corresponding Departments and, if feasible and voted for by other users as well, may be implemented in an upcoming service pack or update.
