hi,

configuring this on customer site for first and using Debian stretch build.

I am not sure if we provision phones using 3CX FQDN instead of local IP eg 192.168.10.51, how does the FO work if 3CX FQDN is resolving to same public IP in this case?

Do we have to perform manual scripting etc to change internal A records to point to real IP of 2nd server in case of a FO ?

You require a private, internal, DNS server to resolve to a local IP. Such as...
https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/how-to-create-internal-fqdn/
Any set outside the local LAN would make use of a outside DNS server to resolve to the public IP, which I assume, in your case, will probably not be changing.

As above, you need to setup spilt DNS

When the failover occurs , you need to change the internal FQDN to point to the new server IP address - either via script or manually.

What version of 3CX are you running ?, as enterprise edition has the failover option.

Snom telephones can work with DNS SRV records but need a custom configuration / template for this. unfortunately the clients doesn't work propertly with DNS SRV records.
The failover mechanism could be better.
