3CX Phone System Version 12 Alpha Available!

    We’re excited to announce the launch of the Alpha build of 3CX Phone System Version 12 which features a new unified, multi-platform client, 3CXPhone.

    3CX MyPhone and the separate SIP clients have been replaced and merged into a single 3CXPhone client for Android, iPhone and Windows. The Windows 3CXPhone client is available to download and is CTI ready, allowing you to control your IP desk phone from the client. The Android and iPhone clients are coming in the next one to two weeks as this isn’t a feature complete release.

    What’s New in 3CX Phone System Version 12
    We have focused our efforts on improving 3CX Phone System from the users perspective and version 12 certainly gives 3CX users unparalleled mobility and productivity. We've really raised the bar on the new 3CXPhone client by giving it an easy to use interface and packing it with features. The new 3CXPhone client takes this version of 3CX Phone System to a whole new level.

    3CXPhone is Easier to Use
    • New interface with an improved Android and iPhone user experience.
      Native app for a more seamless and responsive user experience.
      Easy call forwarding setup from your smartphone.
      Many features previously available only via 3CX MyPhone can now be done from your smartphone such as:
      • Set status
        Login and Logout of queues
        Be alerted to new voicemails

    3CXPhone is Easier to Deploy and Manage
    • Network auto-sensing - 3CXPhone detects if it’s not on the LAN and changes its configuration automatically.
      Easy one click auto provisioning - 3CXPhone can now be provisioned from anywhere. Users simply click on a provisioning attachment.
      Improved troubleshooting.
      Native, easily deployable app. No more silverlight!

    Integrated Softphone
    The softphones have been integrated into the client and received a major revamp and many new features:

    • Ability to easily perform blind or attended transfers from the interface.
      Multi Line - 3CXPhone can now handle multiple lines on all platforms - necessary for conferencing, attended transfer etc.
      Ability to easily create conference calls on 3CX Phone System.

    CTI Mode

    When in the office, use the 3CXPhone client with your desk phone in the CTI mode to get amazing productivity gains from your IP phone.

    • Call control of Yealink, Grandstream & snom phones.
      Initiate calls with a mouse click - no retyping of phone number.
      Easy call transfer.
      Create conference calls with a few mouse clicks.
      Uses CTI API on the phone, not call back.

    Multi-Platform
    3CXPhone is available for all major platforms:

    • Android 2.3 and up - Will be available to download from Google Play soon.
      Tested on popular Android phones from Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony Ericsson.
      iPhone 3, 4 and 5 - Will be available to download from the Apple Appstore soon.

    Unmatched Mobility with PUSH Support

    We've taken mobility to a completely new level for users as 3CX Phone System 12 is the ONLY PBX to support PUSH Technology! Both the Android and iPhone clients support the PUSH mechanism, meaning that the client will be activated on an incoming call or chat message.

    • If your phone is in sleep mode, 3CX Phone System will “wake up” the client.
      Saves battery power.
      You don’t have to remember to keep it active.
      Allows users to be reachable via the phone system from anywhere.

    IP Phone Management & Security

    IP Phone Management
    3CX Phone System has made IP phone management drastically easier for the administrator:

    • Firmwares for supported phones are pre tested by 3CX.
      Easily update all IP phones on the network with a few mouse clicks.
      No more interop problems as firmwares are validated by 3CX BEFORE their release.
      This feature will require a valid maintenance agreement.

    Security
    3CX Phone Systems strong security has been further enhanced with the following features:

    • Default HTTPS - for IIS systems - HTTPS is now enabled and configured by default.
      Improved security of provisioning folder.

    Installing 3CX Phone System 12 Alpha

    As version 12 is a major release, a full reinstall is required in order to upgrade from 3CX Phone System 11 to 12 and the following steps are required:

    • Take a complete backup of your 3CX Phone System 11 installation using the 3CX Backup and Restore tool (Start > All Programs > 3CX Phone System > Backup and restore Tool). Note – this might take some time depending on the amount of voicemails, recordings and call history records. Please note that only backups from 3CX Phone System version 11 will work.
      NOTE: If you have a lot of voicemails and recordings, it is recommended to take a backup of these manually and exclude backing them up from the backup and restore. This will save a lot of time during the upgrade.
      Uninstall 3CX Phone System 11.
      Download and install 3CX Phone System 12 Alpha.
      Restore your backup when prompted via the 3CX Wizard.

    Installed it and looks good. The new features and the 3CXPhone are nice and many will love it, also the 3CX MyPhone was very good.

    My first impressions:

    Buttons in the bottom 3CX Phone are to small. Window not resizeable, so it is too small in contacts, presence, call history etc. After switching from CTI Mode to SIP Phone Mode, new config is not loaded by 3CX Phone via provisioning. I need to clear settings in 3CX Phone and drag the attachement of the newly sended welcome mail again into the phone. By the way a very nice method to provisioning the 3CX Phone.

    The CTI Mode will be tested next. But would be the old MakeCall Method available for phones without CTI Mode support? The buttons for voicemail, recordings and conference is not available in alpha? button for call history have an empty page. Miss the settings for audio device. Will the video function be available? And the queue history tab from 3CX Myphone?

    Whats about plugins, TAPI etc?

    +1 - I see that the caller id via a bridge is very functional - and you can prepend the caller id with the proper digits to call them back.

    3CX Phone 12 is not recognizing the 3CX system v.12 and is not registering, even installing it on the same machine.

    How can V12 softphone be registered in softphone mode, not in CTI mode ?
    I can't register the phone to 3CX V12, even on the same machine.

    Did you try manually registering the account? This worked for me. Remember, this is still ALpha software.

    No effect unfortunately, only 3CX MyPhone shows registered for the extension. The softphone is not registering, neither you can change the 'CTI' mode.

    Looking over the blog post, CTI is not yet functional if I recall.

    Since there is no MyPhone what are you seeing as registered in the Management Console? Under the "3cxPhone Clients" I am registered when done manually - but can not make any calls. At one point I did have it calling the deskphone with "Make Call" then when I picked it up it called the other phone - across the bridge - with the correct caller id.

    That is correct that's how it works on unsupported phones it uses "Make Call", on a supported phone it will use CTI and dial directly through the phone. Please let me know if you have any further inquiries

    Except I am using a supported phone... Yealink T38.

    I know this is only Alpha - so I will just be patient. I actually do not think I will be moving until the 3cxPhone for Mac is ready.

    3CX v12 Alpha, Demo Key Question + Feature request.

    Hi,

    Does this Demo Key: SAOY-3LMW-U3OT-GLJV unlock enterprise features (Exchange support)?

    Feature request from me would be to have the wakeup call feature from hotel module included as a standard feature :)

    I am using the same phone as well and it dials directly. Did it ask you to allow remote control the first time you tried to dial through it in CTI mode? after hitting yet the rest of the dialed numbers should go through directly. Is the phone updated to the latest firmware? Please let us know, and if you have any further inquiries dont hesitate to ask.Thank you for your input.

    The phone is on 38.70.0.143 - not listed as supported but newer because it has Multicast Paging which we needed in our live environment.
    I did not see anything about Remote Control the first time I tried to dial.

    So, uninstalling, removing registry entries and reinstalling did it.

    This phone was still in the box when I first started and may have been on anolder firmware.

    Thank for the tip about "remote control"

    EDIT:
    1 hour later it was back to "MakeCall". I reapplied the Config File and it was working again. I can't very wel expect my users to do this each time they have an issue... I will keep testing it.

    I hope 3cx can find a way that changing status on softphone can update status of IP phone. We have users who often set DND on their Yealink phone using the Button (which also dials *32) but then come back to office and goto MyPhone to change to Available. Then they wonder why they do not get any calls. It is because their phone is still on DND.

    Will an updated beta version be released prior to formally launching version 12? It doesnt make any sense that some features are not available yet, specifically on the 3CX phone and MyPhone software. Merging both software is a great idea but we need to see if all MyPhone features will be retained. In additon, how will users switch from SIP Phone mode to CTI or vice versa.

    I also would like to know more about the Integration Features in Cellular Network. Does this mean that I can use my cellphone as my extension? and be able to transfer and receive phone calls using any cellular network?

    Honestly guys, when are you going to get your heads out of the sand and announce a Windows Phone 8 app, it's like you're building a high spec race car but not designing any wheels for it. I've been on a long ride with 3cx, I like the new editions but at present your offering is not complete.
