Evening experts, trying to get a friend in France up and running on my 3CX system using the 3cx softphone and not having much luck. His phone registers and have managed to get him to make my deskphone (polycome ip350) ring but when I answer I get nothing and when I call him it errors. I then got him to try the 3CX tunnel and ensure that 5090 is prt fwded on my side to the server which my firewall confirms to no avail. I error as soon as I try to call him.

There are a number of variables involved, especially when you have no control over the far end provider or what router they are using.

It could be a router issue blocking the incoming voice ports at your end or there could be something blocking it at the far end. Has the far end tried allowing the computer running the 3CX phone, to pick up a public IP, bypassing the router? If that worked, Then it would point to the router causing a problem. You could try the same thing at your end.
If the 3Cx phone is pointing to your dynamic IP URL, be sure you have that datafilled in your local domain info in 3CX.

Hi Leejor and thanks for getting back to me, unfortunately I have not access at the far end and the user is not to techy. I have ensure that his desktop firewalling is all switched off and tried owrking on instigating the call from his end which I would hope bypass his router fwall as I assume (!) that outbound rules permit everything although I know this could come back to haunt me.

I have 5090, 9000-90049, 5223 & 5060 port fwding on my router to my server and from my LAN can make external calls no problem with my SIP trunk provider. I guess I need to get my iphone 3cx app tested on my neighbours wifi.

    Hi geekecosse,

If you running the firewall checker test in 3CX, do all tests passes? Especially the tests on port 5090?
Your friend in France, is he able to setup his 3CXPhone locally with a VoIP provider and then able to make and receive calls?
Are you using at the local end (3CX server site) a dynamic IP-address and use askthegeek.dyndns.org to reaches the 3CX server via the internet?
I think you do, so have you in 3CX server filled the field “Local SIP domain” with askthegeek.dyndns.org?
