An exception occured Error: Unknown Error (0x80005000)

    Hello - When using the "Send Welcome Email" feature, we get the following error "An exception occured Error: Unknown Error (0x80005000)". We receive a similar error when we add an extension that has an email associated with it (the extension is still created). If we create an extension without an email, the systems adds it without error. We have tried two different SMTP servers that are open to relay with the same result. We are running version 12 of 3CX on Server 2012.

    Scott,

    We had the same issue in a recent deployment. We use Google Apps for our email and for some odd reason this time around we had to add the port # at the end of the smtp server.
    Our gmail smtp server looked like this before the error: "smtp.gmail.com"
    Our fix that worked was: "smtp.gmail.com:587"
    Adding the port fixed our issue.
    Your email provider may be different so you may have to find your port #.
